Anyone here doing or has done the IB program?

It's killing me, like eating me alive. My time management skills suck, my pillow and I are strangers.

But anyway, I was looking at that schedules topic and noticed that a lot of people are taking IB classes, so how are you guys dealing?

I am in both IB and AP.

However, I am suffering in those classes.

I am surpised mine is...it is is a very poor area
and it is the only school in the county that has Ap classes

Seriously, it's the worst thing. Half the time in Cal class I'm just pretending I know what she's talking about.

I'm only taking IB language arts, because full diploma in no way seemed worthwhile, and AP classes fit what I needed practically and credit-wise anyway, so not really. IB language arts I really only took because it allowed me to take 2 AP classes rather than senior honors and then one. My school is the only one in the county to even offer IB, though.

Not especially. It's not a particularly big deal down here, because as far as I know, no one really transfers here just for IB. They stuck a pre-IB program into our middle schools last year I think, and so the IB program's definitely growing, but while I can't remember how many people my class has in diploma, it's not too many (especially since a few have been kicked out). I saw the certificate list last week, and it wasn't particularly huge either. The thing about my school is that it's very diverse in the literal sense, so while we have huge black and Hispanic populations, none of them are really in IB at all. I think we only have 2 black girls even getting a certificate.

I'm still taking MYP, but my school does IB so yeah, I'm not quite looking forward to it.

We have so many people coming to our school just for IB, a couple of other schools are actually kind of getting upset. But IB is still really new at my school, and we've only had one year that actually completed the course and get the diploma, out of 20 or so, 5 pased IB and got the diploma, which is a pretty decent percentage. But so many people drop IB between Junior and Senior year because it tears your brains out to pieces.

BUUUTTT, icy_wonderland (I'm sorry, i don't know your name. ), you should look forward to it! Even though its hard (I will never deny it's not) it's really very memorable, and you get close to all of the other IB students too.

IB isn't that much of a drawing point here so much as it is incentive for the upper-middle class snobs around here not to move or pull their kids out of public schools because they can't handle diversity and want to shelter their stupid children.

I think we definitely have more people than 20, and although we don't have a huge percentage, I'm pretty sure it's larger than that. it's hard to drop IB classes here unless you're kicked out, so what we had was a bunch of people taking pre-IB and most of them not bothering to go for a diploma.

And err, honestly I don't know why you'd be excited about IB at all. A lot of the requirements are really unnecessary, and it's pretty much impossible to have a life. Amoung our IB kids, yeah, they've gotten closer in the sense that most of their friends are in IB, but it's all stupid competition, gossip, and getting sick of each other. It's not really a positive socially. In general here, though, unless you have a real reason to aim for the diploma, it's much more sensible just to take as many certificate or AP classes as you can.
