Most Islamic societies aren't theocratic. I find it interesting that the three largest Islamic countries have had women heads of state (Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh), while the same can't be said of the three largest Christian countries.

[[ Violence against women : Husbands or boyfriends murder three women each day in the United States. And more than 700 women are raped or sexually assaulted every day ]]

We, in the US, have what's called a melting pot. Ours is a young society that is, unfortunately, still affianced with racism and discrimination. Religion do not cause these things, people and their prejudices do. If you want to argue otherwise, you are welcome to do so as I am open to either side, but then Islam will be no exception to the cause.

Saying that America has no women head of state because it is a Christian nation is a weak argument, and a weaker ploy to glorify Islam.

I have also read about the horrors women face in Arab nations, such as one getting acid splashed in her face when a man (that was not a family member) saw her without a veil. Why have you so conveniently left such stories out? Each nation has its best and worst; to focus on the worst is not telling the whole truth.

This has to be up there for all-time 2+2=5 arguments I've ever seen.

All of a sudden, because three Islamic countries have had a female head of state whereas the United States has not, their women have more freedom than ours.

My gracious, let's rethink our strategy here! Why haven't we been following in the footsteps of Indonesia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh all along? _dry.gif
