You would have to use iframes for that. Unfortunately, MySpace has placed some filters and iframes don't work anymore.

Could you please elaborate on that? What do you mean by branching?

I think they just had different profiles and used the same div layout in all of them. So, they'd set up a profile for just one thing, like quotes. Then another profile for something different. All using the same layout. So it looked like you were hopping around one site, but all they were doing was linking to different profiles.

hmm. you could use
<a id="aboutme" name="boutme"></a>
your content here your content here

<a id="moreinfo" name="moreinfo"></a>
second set of content blah blah blah

and so on and so forth..
you put all your content in one div...

for your links you use

<a href="#aboutme">about me</a>
<a href="#moreinfo">more info</a>

but thats sort of a cheesy way to do it. and people could see all the content under each other so...i dunno.

the only other way i can think of is just to do it in flash haha

Well were you on their friends list already, on their main site? Because, for the add button they could have just linked the friend id of their main profile. So no matter what profile you clicked add to friends on, it was requesting to be friends for their main profile.
