I think he trying to tell you that Islam is a religion of Peace and that muslims are not terrorist but in fact believe in the opposite. Terrorists say they are muslims but aren't behaving the way an ideal muslim would.

Exactly but people still believe in it. Bush inserted terror in the coin slot and people are afraid. Why is it that when an african american committs a crime it is a big deal and we are afraid of them but when a white christian does something no one hates all chrisitians? Why are race and religion blamed and bad mouthed when one person goes awry?

I think he trying to tell you that Islam is a religion of Peace and that muslims are not terrorist but in fact believe in the opposite. Terrorists say they are muslims but aren't behaving the way an ideal muslim would. Beautiful... damn we need a rep system on this forumboard, that would deserve a rep. My true goal on this thread is to get people to understand the facts of Islam/Muslim religion. That everything that is fed to you, rather it be a teacher, the media, heck even a pastor/priest sometimes isn't gonna be true. I was in a thread where a specific member was degrading Islam, it showed me that he/she was not informed about Islam. So I wanted to quickly make a thread with nothing BUT "facts". |

Its ridiculous.
If a believer of Islam did something wrong, people goes against these religion + people. Same thing with culture, if a Black man did something wrong, people goes against that race. Yes, it's strange. I guess, it how the media display people. No, Im not insulting anyone. Im talking about the majority. |

Obviously, Islam is not a religion of violence or terrorism. But the fact that people are using Islam to justify such types of actions is sad & degrading, IMO.

Very true. ![]() Tamacracker. If you do not find this offensive, may I ask you what kind of Muslim are you? Suni or Shia? No way, I'm not offended ![]() I'm Sunni... In fact before I converted to Muslim, I had to stop drinkin alcohol, smoking uh... you know "mary", and stopped wearing jewelry (precious metals atleast). Also to anyone that wants to pick up a Qur'an I recommend going to your local Mosque and pickin up a Qur'an that's translated by Abdullah Yusufali. This translation is accurate. That..we couldn't do. Ugh...i'm design staff..totally stepping over my boundries again.Anyways.. We can't make it seem like we're partial towards one religion. We would have to pin all the other threads based on religion to make it fair. But you can always make a really giant link in your sig. Thats what I do a lot. Totally the media. It's ok... it would be cool if anyone has knowledge of their religion to do the same, but anyways no problem. You're right! I should make a link in my signature :) |

Why are you tempted to close this? He is not trying to convert people. He is merely informing the general CB population about Islam.
Why wasn't the thread closed about the war over in the middle east? It wouldn't be fair to close this. |

How can I force someone to convert over the internet? I don't understand? I'm only informing the forumboard of Islam, many people have been misguided and misinformed.
I'm confused... there's no forcing of anything on this thread, people can even ignore this thread if they'd like, and that's their free will to do so... or am I wrong? |

Why are you tempted to close this? He is not trying to convert people. He is merely informing the general CB population about Islam. [Alright. I just quoted a bunch of passages from the articles he has linked, but I accidently closed that window. So, the summary instead!] No no no! He is trying to convert people! Just look at his links! Read some of them. They are blatant proselytizing. Several articles are dedicated to "Judgement Day" and describe how unbelievers will suffer and believers will be rewarded by God. An article called "The Reality of this Life" appeals to our emotions to accept God and damns nonbelievers. QUOTE Without correct faith, deeds are worthless, and are of no benefit. God neither needs nor benefits from deeds. In fact, He is the One Who sustains all His creations, not people who think they are helping them out of their compassion. It's actually God Who benefits the doers of good deeds by permitting them to deliver His allotted sustenance at any given time, for if they disdain, He will deliver it through other means and then THEY may gain merit through it, provided they have faith and correct intentions. QUOTE God reveals Truth first and foremost for the very straightforward reason that when you die, He is going to judge you by that standard. If you rejected that standard, and knowingly did not conform to it, you will have destroyed yourself by your own hands. Everything you believe, intend, say, and do, will be accounted by God according to what He has revealed and made obligatory for you to act upon and to which you should organize your value system. QUOTE In fact, God stresses that His proofs and evidences are so overwhelmingly abundant and straightforward, that to deny them constitutes the worst crime a human being can commit, resulting in eternal Punishment, that is, Hell-fire. Not trying to convert us? Not proselytizing?! Uhhhhhmmm. ![]() These are not expository writings. This is gospel! If he wanted us to understand Islam he may have been better suited in citing Wikipedia. This is just a bunch of John Edwards revival crap. Honest to goodness, I would close this crap. ![]() |

people have to be informed before they can make such and accusation such as saying all muslim people are terrorist and i have heard college professors say this in his classes. for a person to say that, he/she has to be really ignorant. i think this topic really helps informing people that we are the opposite of terrorist. |

I was married to an Arab Muslim he was a crazy a-hole! And I've been around other Muslims before and they seem to have the same mentality. Not that I'm saying they're all the same but the ones I've been around are.
I'm glad I'm not with him anymore. Now I with a Jewish guy and he treats me 10 times better than my ex. |

I was married to a Jordanian of Palestinian descent. I was 19 at the time and he was 27.
Whatever you can think what you want. I really don't care I'm just stating the facts and if can't except that then it's your problem. By the way a lot of Arabs/Muslims find me attractive so I know what they like. Young looking girls with pale skin. |

You're either insinuating that Muslims are collectively like that, or that you're only speaking on behalf of those you just happen to know as a coincidence and aren't intending for that to infer others' behavior at all, which wouldn't have any relevance to the topic. That'd be like me saying, "You know, I've noticed that most religious people are named Frank. I'm not trying to say that theists like the name Frank, it's just a coincidence I've noticed!" Well, what's your point, then? If that were posted in a topic called "People Named Frank", then it would probably be contributive, but in a topic about religion, it's completely random.

Why did Muhammad marry a little girl? There is no specific reason. There's a reason why I posted the links in this thread. I am not the best person to ask specific questions in regards to Islam. Why do Jews marry little girls? Why did/do Catholics marry little girls? Why did/do Christians marry little girls? Why do Buddhist families engage their children and have them move to either the girl's or boy's home? Why do Hindu families marry off their daughters to nearly any aged male as soon as she hits puberty? I rest my case. By the way a lot of Arabs/Muslims find me attractive so I know what they like. Young looking girls with pale skin. Pfffft... Reality check... White girls are the thing of the past, this isn't the 90's sweety. Get over yourself lol |

Ancient tradition, even the Ancient Egyptians married off their children. So did your ancestors, Mongolian (forgive me for assuming you're Asian if I'm wrong). I go by MY Qur'an not "info that is out there" And I'm Sunni. |

If someone's curious and would like to go to those links (which is another forum board, a bodybuilding forum at that) they can see THOUSANDS of posts, hundreds of pages full of questions about Islam, Muslims, and the way of life and they're all answered properly, professionally, and with all do respect. As for why is that the most accurate? Because people like to create fake copies of the Qur'an with scriptures in which defame Islam. Especially in Europe and in America. Also lets not try to compare the THOUSANDS of different versions of the Bible to the ONLY 2 versions of the Qur'an, Sunni and Shia. You're hateful and evil for your false audacious post. |

O NOZ! but i stand by my point - if anyone desperately searches for information on islam, i'm sure they'll find it. it's extremely naive of you to find me hateful and evil for questioning and making comments about your post. |

And if they're desperately in search of it, I provided them the links to seek questions that have already been asked and the answers to them. |

My girlfriend's brother is actually taking me to a Mosque on Sunday, I'd rather have things told to me then read.
After they're told I come and read more about it. The reason I'm a bit eh about Islam is because I think instead of studying the nature of it, I've been reading the sets of rules. |

if i wanted this thread closed, i could close it right now. however, i'm not - because i don't see how it's breaking any guidelines, and this isn't "drama" to me. it's merely (partially) educated discussion... granted, aggressive discussion, but it's passable to me. |

My girlfriend's brother is actually taking me to a Mosque on Sunday, I'd rather have things told to me then read. After they're told I come and read more about it. The reason I'm a bit eh about Islam is because I think instead of studying the nature of it, I've been reading the sets of rules. That's what I did, I went to a Mosque and explained my interest in Islam to the sheikh (Islamic priest), he had me set a date with him so I could have a one on one "interview"... Any question I asked (specially about terrorism with no disrespect) he answered without using apologetics. |

Have you noticed though?
a Muslim would have sex, drink alcohol, gamble, but one thing they'd never do is eat pork. I'm learning more about Islam for the belief not a set of rules I must follow. |

Unfortunately, the modern Westernized world is sort of corrupting Muslims in the Western part of the world. I used to drink alcohol but got sick of it.. literally, I can't drink even a bottle of beer or I'll gag. Back when I was in highschool I used to "chug" 32oz. bottles (4 of them in a matter of 2 hours) of Old English beer. I used to smoke cigarettes, but one day I didn't have the craving for them... normally when I would wake up, I would smoke my last cigarette and go straight to the store to buy another pack for the rest of the day (I used to smoke a pack a day) So yeah... there's these fake Muslims who believe in some sort of "Neo-Islam" belief where they believe it's ok to drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, fornicate before marriage etc... |

I think that's a debatable topic though. Just because you believe in the teachings doesn't mean you have to follow the rules. I'm not saying make up the rules as you go along, what I'm saying is...
You're not really harming anybody by doing these. I wouldn't say the "Neo-Islam" trend is right, but I believe it's the ideas behind it you should believe in. Not the rules. Don't know if that made sense? |

The reason why cigarettes are frowned upon in Islam, is because it's an addiction. Islam in a sense teaches; Mind over matter. I do understand your post, I have no problem with someone who doesn't follow all the rules (we're humans), I respect those who better themselves and become better people overall, who have hope and see a better tomorrow every day. |

-.- It's old tradition... Ancient tradition, even the Ancient Egyptians married off their children. So did your ancestors, Mongolian (forgive me for assuming you're Asian if I'm wrong). I go by MY Qur'an not "info that is out there" And I'm Sunni. So back then, was it acceptable in Islam to marry a girl of that age? But the rule changed? I don't know any of my ancestors that married and lived with someone before puberty. And I'm pretty sure none of my ancestors claimed to be prophets or started their own religions. How many different versions of the Koran are there? Different sects? I'm asking because I get different answers from different Muslims. Is there an Islamic equivalent to the Pope? If not, where do you place authority for the beliefs? Is the Koran inerrant? Sorry for all the questions. "I don't know" is an acceptable answer, but for your sake, I hope that if it is your answer, you find out the truth. |

So back then, was it acceptable in Islam to marry a girl of that age? But the rule changed? Yes it was acceptable but Islam wasn't the only belief system either, so you can't single them out. As for the rule changing, yeah you can say that, it's a tradition in which is slowly being phased out. But so are all the other belief systems, so again... the rule didn't change just for Islam. QUOTE I don't know any of my ancestors that married and lived with someone before puberty. And I'm pretty sure none of my ancestors claimed to be prophets or started their own religions. I'm a pretty big history buff, I know my historical events pretty well. I don't think you understand what's the point of religion. The reason why religion exist is because these were people who spread the teachings of God. Religion is just a label for a group of followers of God. Religion wasn't meant to be used to create wars, to force teachings, or what have you. It was just meant to keep the word of God alive. QUOTE How many different versions of the Koran are there? Different sects? I'm asking because I get different answers from different Muslims. Is there an Islamic equivalent to the Pope? If not, where do you place authority for the beliefs? Is the Koran inerrant? There's legitimately only two versions of the Qur'an. The Sunni version and the Shia version. Which answers the question, "how many sects of Islam is there?" There's specifically only 2 sects in the root of Islam. But then there's the Westernized branches of these two sects which most of the time is blasphemous. If you'd like to know the differences between the two.. it's a bit long, I really don't know how to sum that up as for every bit of detail in the differences has to be laid down to fully understand. I would recommend you read this if you're interested: http://www.ansar.org/english/fiqh.htm There's no such thing as a higher being on earth who can speak to God such as the Catholic pope. Only prophets could speak to God and hear God at any given time. Popes only exist for one thing and one thing only, to control the people with "religious politics". Nothing more, nothing less. The true authority of Islam is the word of God via the Qur'an. QUOTE Sorry for all the questions. "I don't know" is an acceptable answer, but for your sake, I hope that if it is your answer, you find out the truth. These were pretty simple questions actually. Hope you understood my answers. |

What kind of Muslim do you see yourself as? Do you bend the rules? I'm Sunni, if any bending of rules... it would be that last year I did not celebrate Ramadan because I was in Italy at the time and I forgot to bring my Qur'an. On top of that I could not find a Mosque no where near town. Unfortunately my family in Italy would never understand why I chose Islam. I had to stay at a hotel which didn't have its own kitchen. So I couldn't eat the certain foods that were allowed. On top of that I was on a business contract, I can't just stop in the middle of my job, drop down to my knees and pray for an hour. I believe your religious activities and knowledge of religion should be kept to yourself and not exposed in the business world. |

Do you think Allah would frown upon work over religion as you have to pray a certain times a day?

I don't think Abraham did. I don't think Jesus did. I don't think Siddharta Gautama did. By who's authority was this practice changed? As I understand, this stuff is still in practice in Africa and the Middle East. Erm... It's still being practiced all over the world actually. But modern civilizations want it phased out. QUOTE The difference between other belief systems is that I don't think the founder of other religions married young girls. I don't think Abraham did. I don't think Jesus did. I don't think Siddharta Gautama did. Your point being? God never said it was a sin nor was it good to marry a child or have children get married. It was never considered an issue. But as we all know, a lot of the world views children getting married as ridiculous. QUOTE By who's authority was this practice changed? I can't answer that with a specific name nor time frame. I can only say by the authority of evolution, specifically psychological. QUOTE How does one know they are following the right religion? There is no right or wrong religion, unless it's obvious that the religion only exists to harm humanity and defame God, the word of God, the Prophets, and the word of the Prophets. QUOTE Where do Sunnis place their authority? Where do Shiites place their authority? If they place their authority in the same place, why do they have distinct beliefs? They place them all in God and God only. As to why they have distinct beliefs, I already answered that with a link to get the full understanding. There's no possible way of summing up the differences between the two. QUOTE What about Imams? Do they not control people with religious politics? They're supposed to keep order, a land with no physical authority is just bad news, we all know this. They don't use religious politics per say, because in Islam, there is no religious politics. Everyone follows the Qur'an and understand the consequences. Though I do understand that Imams are trying to control their people with man made laws and I totally disagree with it. Because this takes away the true freedom from the people. QUOTE What is your opinion on the Dalai Lama? Thanks for the answers. A great man we had. Unfortunately he never had the chance to explain himself for his racist political views. I never found a good enough explanation. So while he helped many of his people, he was still racist in my book. As for him going to heaven? I couldn't answer you that. It depends on his heart and God will judge him for his heart. |

They still marry there cousins and under age girls. Things still haven't really changed. LOL Erm.. I wouldn't be speaking if I were you, you already look foolish as it is. And speaking of marrying their cousins lol... you most likely have redneck-hicks in your family... whether is in present time or back in the early 1900's, regardless they screwed and raped their own family members. To add to that, they did the same to animals. QUOTE And by the way you need to get over yourself you really aren't that great of person. You're nothin special for me to be a great person about. (Did that make sense?) In other words... I don't kiss ass, I don't laugh because someone else laughs, and I don't try to be friends with strangers online, specially ones who make up stories and tend to be ignorant beyond belief. QUOTE I hope the FBI is watching you. Go kill yourself. Or simply stop posting in this thread, wanker. |

I've been reading about Jihad, which is controversially the Sixth Pillar of Islam. What's your intake on this one? |

beats me. imo, if people still have questions (and since tama's the only one answering), they can just pm him. however, until tamacracker wants this thread closed or until this thread just gets ridiculously full of spam and fighting, i'll leave this open.
we can do without the petty fighting and name calling in here. if it continues, you'll all be issued a verbal warning. |

Good grief, guys!
Ok, any post below the one I'm posting now that contains any type of personal name calling will result in warnings, period. Friggin keep it civil for goodness sake. Also, verbal warning has already been issued to Tamacracker, so I think we've had enough warnings of impending warnings. Tama, I think you're an alright guy, so let's keep the 'tude in check, please? This goes for all your posts. Now, Eddie has asked some questions. Anyone have some answers or comments to that? |

I was wondering about Islam...
How do women fit into all of this? I've heard the women are anything but equal. Do they still get to participate in everything? I'm sure probably not the Mecca pilgramage, but how are they fitting into it all? |

Thank you Tamacracker for this interesting information about Islam. The stupid media has corrupted my mind, and now, I know the accurate truth ![]() That's the only reason why I created the thread. The media is showing a bunch of Arabian thugs who claim to be Muslims when they're no better than the KKK, they're hypocrites and in no way, shape or form are they true Muslims. Basically media is using fear tactics to scare the American and European people into hating Islam and being ignorant of Islam. |

A few weeks ago, my class was studying Christanity, Islam, and Judaism. You would not believe how many students were shocked to learn that the Arabic name for Allah was God. I mean seriously, the media is over exaggerating ideas that aren't that big of a deal. They know how many lives they are tainting and exactly how they're doing it, but they don't care. They just want the dirty money. It's like racism all over again, but globally. |

Yep... they think Islam's God is some pagan "Moon" God (because the symbolism of Islam is the half moon). And in reality it's the same God as Judaism and pre-Christianity's God (prior to the Trinity). |
