So, I searched "Intelligence Test", and the first few pages, but to no avail, so, I think this deserves a new topic:

What is your I.Q?

My most recent score is 111. I was proud. Damn proud biggrin.gif

What does the 'q' in 'I.Q.' stand for? blink.gif Also, what test did you take to get that score? It would kind of be.. helpful.

Played along with a two-hour version the BBC showed a few nights ago.

It stands for "Intelligence Quiz"

...

Ah, I see your point. But if it didn't come up with the word intelligence, then it surely wouldn't come up just because I strung some other word along.

doesn't IQ stand for intelligence quotient...cuz it wouldn't make sense to say, "hey what's your intelligence quiz"

You know what, I really don't care :D. BBC didn;t go into detail about it, I got 111, and I still don't see anybody telling us what their score is.

It stands for "intelligence quotient", and it is the result of dividing two figures; hence the term "quotient".

I don't know any links to tests. I'm asking what your IQ is, not telling you to take a test.

Well I'm asking the people who do know what their score is, and somehow nobody has posted their's yet. It's as if it's difficult.

Yes, but we need the same IQ test in order to get a more standard/fair test. mellow.gif The BBC test isn't going to be the same as an online quiz someone else took. I'm pretty sure there's already a thread on this, though.. *searching*

Edit: I could've sworn there was one. Oh well. shrug.gif

Yeah, I've searched the terms "IQ", "Intelligence Test", and, "Intelligence Quiz", but, quite frankly, got nothin'. Must be an old thread, and old threads aren't supposed to be brought back.

Well...apparently we were unknowingly given IQ tests in elementary school, because that's how you get into the gifted program so according to that, I would have to have at least a 130, because that's what's required.

I thought it was at least a 140..
Or at least that's what it is for NYC.

Well, my language arts teacher last year (who told us that) could have been wrong, but I doubt it. I'm pretty sure it's not a nationally consistant thing, anyway.

And Georgia's not exactly known for its high standards.

I tried taking that Know your planet test at that http://www.bbc.co.uk/testthenation/

Its actually kind of hard. Somewhat, I couldn't finish it there was to many questions.

I don't really know what mine is. I remember taking a 5 question i.q. test and I got all of them right. I took another one but I don't remember the results.

I had to take several in school but I never knew the score. I was in two gifted programs and I almost skipped a grade because I had a 9th grade reading level in the first grade. But I didn't want to and the school district was garbage and didnt ask my parent for permission for me to go back to my grade lol. But apparently I'm hella smart. I just don't give a shit. And apparently thats why I'm so good at artsy stuff, cuz I'm creatively advanced or some shit. I would take an official i.q. test except I don't care enough to finish it. too long.

Same thing happened here. My mom found a letter in my backpack and started screaming something or rather about my intelligence and woo hoo, blah blah blah, isn't it neato?!

I never took any type of test, at least not that I can remember. (Granted, my 1st grade year was a LONG time ago).

I've also read that these type of tests aren't really reliable no matter where or how you take them. For one thing, there's different types of intelligence, for another, my son had to take an IQ test when he was being diagnosed with autism and I found it absolutely absurd. He was two and didn't TALK. I called it the grunt test, since he was such a genius grunter back then. rolleyes.gif

Since before I had no clue what my score meant, I'm guessing I'm not the only one. So here's an IQ scale. _smile.gif

Over 140 - Genius or almost genius
120 - 140 - Very superior intelligence
110 - 119 - Superior intelligence
90 - 109 - Average or normal intelligence
80 - 89 - Dullness
70 - 79 - Borderline deficiency in intelligence
Under 70 - Feeble-mindedness

115-124 - Above average
125-134 - Gifted
135-144 - Very gifted
145-164 - Genius
165-179 - High genius
180-200 - Highest genius

(more detailed info here.)

They adjust your score by your age I think. Your score does change over a period of time though. Like if you took one when you were 12, and then took another one at say, 18 - your score is going to be as much as 10-20 points higher. At least thats what I read somewhere. Wikipedia I think. pinch.gif

That's not true, you must have misread the Wikipedia entry. They said that it is possible to increase your IQ, as people have previously increased their IQ by almost 18 points. Your IQ should be constant throughout your life, and for a select few it will change.

^ Well, yeah. No one's going to jump from average to genuis, but your score can change. Either as a result of age (mostly from child to adult), or by a person excersizing their brain more with puzzles and stuff.

Nevermind, I think you're correct. Lol. xD
I guess I just read a small part of it and assumed too much.

True, but usually it doesn't rise by much. Not enough to put you into another category at least.

I think its horrible how some parents have their kids' IQs taken. Children are most likely to vary their IQ, because they have yet to learn some things on IQ tests. So some kids get low IQs recorded and are held down by it for life.

Acutally it kinda does, the european IQ test tests predominately on speed and analytical skills, whereas as in some cultures taking time for deliberation and spacial skills are more highly favoured.

I wrote a paper on this for Uni last year, let me go find it.

Yes, thats really good!

According to the scale I found (see my other posts), it says you're gifted. (125-134). 100 is the median score, so a 127 is definately above average.
