what did you think about it?
what did you think of the performances?

I thought the show was okay. Jessica Simpson frightened me, just a little bit. I would've liked to have seen her and Paris onstage together, like Nick Lachey and Nicole Richie were.

I liked Christina Aguilera's performance. OK Go was awesome. Treadmills are the future.

What I found funny was how the frontman of P!ATD was seated next to the Hilton sisters.

What the f**k is going on with T.I. Instead of female strippers he has little kids - wtf. I swear to God, he's gonna be the next R.Kelly crazy.gif. Heh, it was alright. Could of been better though.

a good year, from what i saw.

AVENGED MOTHAFUCKIN SEVENFOLD with the best new artist! and little miss sunshine couldn't read their name. haha.

AFI with best rock. pretty sweet. that one was hard to predict.

and i'm glad dance dance won something. that video is effin sweet.

i never knew my name is earl played drums for the killers.

i liked how the guy from panic at the disco kept scowling at the bands who beat them. hahaha. he was probably thinking "the only thing worse than this would be getting hit in the face with a bottle of piss"

in my opinion, it sucked. it went downhill. Jack Black isn't the right host for this. he didn't even crack any good jokes!

Justin Timberlake's performance was hot. he shoulda done some more dancing, he has some flow. and Ludacris and Pharrell bringin out PCD, that was HOT!

and Black Eyed Peas winning for Best Hip Hop > WTF?!

overall, the show sucked!

Favorite performances of the night in order

Panic at the disco (just cuz I'm so proud of them)
Beyonce (close second, she kicked ass IMO)
Justin Timberlake
All American Rejects
Christina Aguilera (just cuz of the way she jerked her dress out of some crazy fans hand)
Ludacris tied with T.I. I liked both

all the others were okay.

Favorite moments in order

Britney Spears "kevin, wheres the baby???"
Pink "Oh I totally won like awesome"
Sarah Silverman "Paris you need to lose weight. You're bigger than the fat olsen twin"
Justin Timberlake "You know this place needs? Shelves!"
Brendon Urie "He stole our thunder"
Sarah Silverman "Lanch Bass totally hit on me. Hes gay? Oh yeah that whole space travel thing? totally gay"
All American rejects "I'm getting trashed tonight!!"
P. Diddy "nods. nods. raises finger for number one."

Favorite Winners

Panic! at the Disco
Beyonce
All American Rejects
Pink
Charmillionaire

Favorite Losers

Red Hot Chilli Peppers (they were nomiated for like seven!!)
Panic! at the Disco (nommed for five)
Shakira (another 7)

Yeah that about covers it :)

Overall I'd give the night an 8.2 because Jack Black wasn't as funny as I hoped and the show had some really disorganized moments. And there was way too much Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas. And the stupid Godfather of soul daytime tv gag. And panic was a freakin shoo in for the best new artist. that annoyed me.

I'm slowly watching the performances on mtv.com right now.

You know, I don't particularly listen to her music, but damn I would kill for Fergie's figure.

Meh, Jack Black wasn't the best host for the show..but it was okay.

I missed the first half hour because I was watching Big Brother, but everything after the first hour was pretty okay.

I was disappointed in Brendon Urie (from P!ATD), because he was wearing a hat during their performance..he should've shown off his hot face. kiss.gif But then he made up for it by being hat-free during his acceptance speech. _smile.gif

It was alright.

Ok, just finished watching Beyonce's perfomance (good lord I'm bored today LOL). Again, not something I'd necessarily buy, but she really is a great performer. That whole dance sequence totally brought old Janet Jackson (ala Rhythm Nation) to mind. She seemed to be lip synching though, which is a bummer. Maybe it was her singing over the track? Not sure. But her voice seems to be maturing, which is good.

I also saw Shakira. While her voice isn't great, she really is fun to watch. Makes me want to revisit belly dancing. She also looks like she has so much fun performing, which is great.

^ Haha yeah - I was so mad how there was so much shadow during the performance. I saw them on the red carpet, too, but he didn't talk very much so the camera wasn't on him very much. sad.gif

Yeah I would say Beyonce was singing to the track just cause there were little moments that stood out, and thats generally her performance style. Not lipsyncing, just singing along. Shes kinda always done it that way, even back with destinys child, but only on the up beat suff. but I was really feelin the dance syquence that exact reason. No one dances like that anymore. Not even janet. :(

Shakira looked great but yeah the sound wasn't so hot. I was definately feeling the belly dancing even though I would have liked to see her do more of the complicated stuff she does in like the videos. But belly dancing and singing is killer for the abs so I admire her for what she did. I'm digging up my belly dance aerobics video right now haha.

^ Beyonce's performance was really good, I just don't particularly like the song "Ring the Alarm".

The singing was technically right on point, I just didn't like it. The dancing was good too, yet, random at times. XD.gif

I guess I just don't really like Beyonce's new sound.

I'm baaaack. laugh.gif

Just caught the Hype tribute thing and Christina Aguilera. (I'm skipping through many)

Ok, so I'll admit, the nostalgia of seeing Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliot gave me a few goosebumps. I remember when "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See" and "Da Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" came out. I was in my earlier twenties and life seemed so promising and I had so much fun at that time. So I guess it wasn't so much about the music, as it was a reminder of an era in my life.

Having said that... boo. That's right, BOO. What the hell was Missy wearing? And she didn't even bother holding a mic! If it were my tribute, I'd be insulted. At least Busta made some effort. Oh and the head dress he wore on the walk in was fabulous.

As far as Christina Aguilera goes, she is immensely talented. Her belt voice has always been impressive. I think age and her abuse of her vocal cords is getting to her as either she is developing nodes, or her throat is just sore. Either way, her voice was a bit raspy. Also, someone PLEASE tell her to stop moving her hands so damn much. It would have been quite a lovely performance had she not had me wincing every 5 seconds from getting dizzy watching her hands. Other than that, pretty good. She looked beautiful as well.

^ I agree with you that Christina has probably damaged her vocal chords or something. I think she's over-working them a bit right, which is understandable considering how much promo performances she's been doing lately for her new album.

My best friend and I were on the phone together last night during the awards, and we both agreed that something happened to Christina's voice towards the end of her performance. And, yeah, she looked gorgeous, as usual. _smile.gif

AAAAHH!! Missy was wearing the trash bag. THE trash bag that put her on the map!! I was trippin out. It was sooo throwback. I was thrilled. except I'm mad at missy for shaving off all her hair. but hey, if she wants to revert to a fat black man thats her own problem. laugh.gif It was really cool that someone gave Hype Williams some props. Hes made some of the greatest and most memorable videos ever. Go him . And on Christinas voice, I'm with ya 100%. I still think the best part of the performance was that guy grabbing her dress tho cuz she snatched it up quick. I was watching those hands thinking someones gonna grab that dress..and well..there ya go. But I don't think she has abused her voice. Its not nearly as pure and well controlled as it was a few years ago. she'll survive. she sure looked amazing.

^ XD.gif Must have been the resolution of the video (from mtv.com) then. Because I honestly couldn't tell what she was wearing. LOL! I still think she should have held a mic or something. I don't know.

And yes, his videos were incredible.

^ Oh yeah!!! OMG!! I LOVED okgo's performance!

There's 2 really hott guys in that band, which makes me happy. wink.gif

They're awesome though - I saw them on a re-run of Mad TV a couple of weeks ago and they were great. _smile.gif

Oh, and I loved the Killers' performance because I'm obsessed with the song "When You Were Young". It wasn't amazing live, I just love the song. throb.gif

I totally fogot about Ok go. I have to say though, if anyone else did that they would be scrutinized from here to kingdom come. By that I mean danced around on treadmills and didnt actually sing one note. But hey, thats the world for ya. If Britney Spears does it shes fake (not saying she still wouldnt be fake) but they do it and people love it. However I personally don't think you have to sing live to entertain people, so I was all for it. I just find it interesting what people do and don't tolerate these days.

The MTV VMA's `o6 was awesome. I loved it. I always watch every VMA every year. (x

Justin Timberlake did a good opening for the VMA's.
Beyonce had a really good performance, it was cool.

The All American Rejects (Favorite Band) got a moonman, I forgot for what though, lolz.
And, Pussycat Dolls for "Best Dance Video", which they are extremely hott.

I didn't like T.I's performance for some reason, I just didn't like it.

Overall, the VMA's were great!

I TiVOed it. That way I can fast forward through the lame parts.
I haven't watched it yet; but I saw the set. It looked alright.
Someone mentioned that Avenged Sevenfold won best new artist or something, how is that possible, they've been around for quite some time.

From the 5-10 min. that I saw of it I think it was okay. I saw it when the Steady As she Goes song was playing, I forget how to spell the name of the band. That song is nice though. I get it stuck in my head a lot. And I saw the reward that the All American Rejects got for their Move Along video and that was it.

I suppose it went over well, I don't know who won what exactly and stuff.

2006 VMA's was wack, I was bored. i only liked when Hype, Missy, and Beyonce came out. Oh and those guys on the treadmills were interesting to watch. Though I found that kinda gay. Panic at the Disco completely hurt me with those notes he tried it hit. It was absolutely horrible, then that girl talking about Paris Hilton? WTF is wrong with her? I did like that little comment I thought you paris Hilton, not Paris France, that was hilarious. But other than that it wasn't worth my time. I wasted two hours of my life watching that. I could've read a book.

I was pretty much watching for OK Go's performance and, to a lesser extent, Panic!'s. I didn't pay attention to a lot of it, though. But for some reason I still wanted to watch it live instead of watching for a rerun >.> The My Chemical Romance performance at the beginning was pretty cool too.

haha right. Cuz you know Lindsay Lohan and Kelly Clarkson are SUCH bigger stars than justin timberlake and Beyonce. Even though Beyonces been doing this for 9 years now and Justins been with us for about 8 years. And of course Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie got nothin on Hilary duff right? Oh and not to mention P. Diddy and LL Cool J and Timberland and Missy Elliott and Queen Latifa and Jennifer Lopez and Christina Aguilera. All people who have been famous long before anyone knew about or cared about Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan. Bunch of no bodies. Where were the famous people tonite.

I'm sorry I know that dripped with sarcasm, but honestly. Those people are cool, but they arent the big BIG names. Especially not in music, minus Kelly Clarkson of course. And sure Kelly is big but she still can't hold a candle to the fame level of a lot of the aformentioned stars. I mean if you said where was Mariah Carey and Eminem and Madonna then I would get you because those were huge names that were missing from the night. But Hilary Duff? Give me a break. Seriously.

Hilary Duff is pretty much a no body to anyone over 18. And out of the three, Kelly Clarkson to me should have been there. I mean she was ominated for like 2 or three wards and ever won one. But hilary duff isn't that big of a star.

I wanted Shakira to win some... I never finished watching, so maybe she did later, but idk. The All American Rejects SUCKED, but it was pretty funny when they were wasted when they accepted their award. Panic! sucked when they performed, too. Beyonce did an amazing job, though.

i thought it was REALLY good. especially compared to the last few vmas. there was a mix of everything whereas when it was in miami, it was more focused on rap and hip hop. the vmas definitely need to stay in nyc.

all the performances were really good...especially ok go's. ahh, that was amazing. but i was a little disappointed that the raconteurs only played on commericals or whatever.

Hilary Duff is pretty much a no body to anyone over 18. And out of the three, Kelly Clarkson to me should have been there. I mean she was ominated for like 2 or three wards and ever won one. But hilary duff isn't that big of a star.

Not to mention Kelly Clarkson actually has some talent. wink.gif
