Ok, so apparently my "sound driver" has "stopped?"
I've tried downloading the newest drivers and it gives me a code 10. I got one of those programs that apparently tells you every single last detail about your computer, and it said my "realtek ac 97 blah blah" is stopped. No sound from the pc, or from speakers. Anybody help me here? |

What's Code 10? I've never had that problem before..
Try: Control Panel>Sounds, Speech, And Audio Devices>Change Speaker Settings And mess around with things there.. My advice is to do that and go to "Advanced" for "Speaker Settings". Going to the Preformance tab there won't work.. So just change the thing under "Speaker Setup". Change it to your speakers. |

I definitley tried that, and it didn't work.
I'm getting a crackling noise from the speakers when I do plug them in. I know the problem is, I bought this off craigslist, the guy said he'd just updated to windows xp sp2 and the speaker drivers and everything are set for windows nt. But whenever I download the newer drivers it gives me code 10. So I don't know what to do, and it's really really irritating. But thanks for the advice! |

The crackling noise is a good sign-they're not broken. Did you try downloading this? http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/ac97.html It has stuff for XP, so maybe you should try installing that stuff? |
