My school has lockers but I use a backpack because.. well IDK. Get a plain tote or backpack & decorate it yourself if you can't find one you like. I think delias might have some but I'm really not sure. ;/ Sorry I'm not much of a help.

If you have no lockers, I'd say backpack. I usually use a tote on days where I don't have to carry much.. like on minimum days or something.

there's no harm in getting both.

last year for first semester i had virtually no books so i toted. second sem was heavier so i opted for backpack. (we change classes in the middle of the year)

jansport is a classic for cute backpacks.

as for totes, old navy or urban outfitter usually has cute ones. there are also funtotes.

although some people do use totes year round since we usually just leave our stuff on the ground during lunch. backpacks and totes are grouped together by click. it's actually funny.

I suggest a easy to care backpack..

I care around mail bags and messenger bags all the time. So its really up to you which ever feels most comfortable with the weight of books and stuff in them.

I'm gonna use a messenger bag & a tote for this school year. Just gonna switch around everyday, depending on what classes I have. On days I need to carry a lot of text books I'll use my messenger bags & on days I don't have many text books my tote _smile.gif.

I use a tote. But if your highschool doesn't have lockers it woukld depend if you leave ur books at home or do you have to bring them to school everyday. Backpack if you have to take your books to school everyday just so that it would be easier, other wise a tote, because it doesn't take up as much room in the hallways.

I think a tote looks better than a backpack, but it can be less practical. However, I found a really nice one a few years ago that can fit a miraculous amount of books inside. If you're planning on carrying a lot of books with you, and since you don't have a locker, I'd suggest a backpack since the weight of the books will be distributed evenly over your shoulders.

^where? My tote doesn't fit nearly as many books as I need it to. ):

It really depends on how many books you need to carry around, even though they're cute, they're less practical. And I just buy my totes at Target. _smile.gif

Moved to School

I think this belongs in School because this isn't just fashion. It's also about comfort and reliability. We can talk about what types of backpacks/totes/slings we like and which are best for school! happy.gif

I could use some suggestions myself. I'm considering getting a sling backpack. You know, the kind where the single strap goes across the chest. They're really comfy but I hear they're usually not very large. That could be a problem because I don't want to have to carry around my books in my hand. What do you guys think? _unsure.gif

yeah, they aren't that big. some of the jansport ones fit more though. you should also try looking at places like american eagle for them.. i think they have had them before.

Neither; use a messenger bag or don't use a bag at all. I went two years in highschool just carrying around a binder/folder. Whoo.

I used a tote bag in high school. I don't think the teachers require you to bring all your books to class, do they?

I use both. Since I only have to carry two light books, a tote doesn't hurt my shoulders as much. Only use a tote, though, if you don't have a lot to carry. It hurts to carry three books in a tote. I've tried. [;

I don't have a locker so I have to carry all my stuff with me, which isn't a lot. I only have one book this year and four binders. Do you guys think that would fit in a sling?

Backpack. For me because I have so much books and supplementary texts for my classes...my literature book is as thick as a brick, seriously.

I use a backpack. a lot of my friends only use totes, but I have no idea how they do it, seeing as they have to carry around textbooks all day.

^x2 I like the North Face ones too, but the Borealis designs over Isabella. I use tote sometimes, but only when I don't have a lot of stuff to carry...plus I always carry my books in my hands so it doesnt make a difference.

I normally use a backpack, and just use a tote on days like finals or the last day of school, etc., since I don't have to carry much on those days. I don't carry books in my backpack, though; I carry/hold them when I need them, and I'll be getting a locker soon, so that should help the situation.
