if i start stretching everyday, will i be able to possibly do the splits in a year? and to kick higher? i don't think it's possible, but could it happen? any good routines or workouts i should do? i posted in Sports because i'm planning to tryout for dance or cheer next year and i need to be able to do these things.

as long as your stretching everyday and working yourself harder and going further so that you can actually feel it working then I think you should be doing fine.

It is possible, but very hard. For front and back split, just go down as far as you can and sit there for awhile, gradually it will get lower.
For straddle split go against an even wall, with your back on the floor and your butt pressed up against the wall. Have someone push your legs down as far as they can go in a straddle, and hold them there for an entire song. As far as front and side kicks go, just practice. Anything involving the back, do something called a six o'clock split. Go up against a wall, with one foot on the floor and one foot on the wall in a split. Make sure the heel on your supporting leg is touching the wall and push back as hard as you can, hold it for awhile. |

Hey, you just might be able to, if you keep working at it.
Here's something that might help. Good luck![click] |

You can do split the next day.
How? You tell someone to push you down like nothing. BAM, YOU DID YOUR SPLIT ! GG |

Also, you shouldn't be stretching everyday. Although stretching doesn't seem harmful, you should give your body a rest for one or two days at least. Be sure to warm up before stretching. If not, stretching can do more damage to your muscles than not stretching at all.

Dynamic Stretching. This will help you like no other. It stretches out everything. Plus it takes about 10 minutes.

Hold into something about waist height and kick as high as you can. Make sure both legs are straight, and knees locked. Keep your back straigt up. Make sure your foot is pointed. If you need this for dance, let me know (pm me) because with dance there are a lot more technical things you have to make sure of when you're kicking.
Are you trying to get your back kicks higher? Mona- You should stretch everyday. In dance when we don't stretch for even a day we lose a little bit of flexibility. |

She's trying to get on cheerleading/dance team.
For a split you need to be constantly in the position whenever possible. Sit and do your homework in it. |
