since i'm going away for 3 weeks at a camp, i didn't want to be constantly shaving so i decided to buy nair.
my skin is really sensitive to a lot of stuff (even dove soap!) so i might react to using this.
i tried to buy the non-allergenic kind but it didn't come with the bladeless shaver.

has anyone used nair?
if so, does it work really well?
how long until you have to use it again?
did you react?
how long should i grow my hair out until it'll be effective enough to use?

You don't have to bump it. You only posted it about an hour ago.

I've tried it, and it works ok for me. It depends on how sensitive your skin is, I suppose. Do you react to certain skin products?

I've used it. The smeel is the worst part of it, but I suggest you do a patch test before you try it on your whole leg. Just put a little bit behind your knee and leave it on for a couple minutes. If nothing happens, then your probably okay. But if you feel the slightest irritation, don't try it!!!

Oh, and to maguti:
OMG!!! DANTE BASCO is the SMEXXIEST!! dribble.gif

i just tried a bit on my leg and i had no reaction, it didn't even sting.
but i didn't put a lot on at all, maybe as much as the width of a dime.
i'll try a bit more tomorrow, maybe a strip or something and see.
the one i got smells nice...
thanks!

Yeah, try it in bits and see what you can withstand gradually. You want sexy smooth legs, not itchy red legs :)

The last time I used Nair was a long, long time ago. I guess they smell prettier nowadays.

It's been a LONG time since I've used Nair. It was my compromise since my mom wouldn't let me shave yet.

It works, but definitely follow the instructions. And do the test first to make sure.

Back when I used it, it smelled AWFUL and none of it came with a bladeless shaver. mellow.gif

I've not used Nair's depilatory cream, but I've used other brands. I have somewhat-sensitive skin, so I did turn red for a day or two, and its results last only a tiny bit longer than shaving, I think. Yeah, it smelled awful.
Hmm, I'm no help. Sorry.

^ because when i wax my skin gets really irritated, that's why i only wax my eyebrows and even then it goes red for a couple days.

ahh, you're right about the bad smell!
it smelled better from the bottle, haha.
it's because it has sulfur in it - so it smells like rotten eggs.
is it really true about your hair will grow back thicker?
i've read that's all just a myth in my cosmogirl magazine.

from what i've experience. anything that deals with removing hair (waxing, shaving, nair, etc.) is going to make your hair grow back quicker and thicker....mine grow back thicker, but you still can't really see it because i have tan skin, and my dark hair blends in with the tan skin, but either way....it disturbs me if hair is ANYWHERE on my body except my head.

I disagree on that bit about you saying that shaving makes your hair grow back faster. I've only seen it with Nair. I can't say anything about waxing because I've never waxed my legs.

Now I wanna try Nair...or the other one...how long does it usually take? Like, do you have to keep it on for a long time? I'm a very impatient person, haha.

biggrin.gif When I shave the hair grows back faster for me.....? Waxing doesn't as much, and nair is in between. pinch.gif I don't know about growing back like. REALLY fast, but it DOES grow back thick most of the time.

Damnit. I meant thicker, not faster. XD.gif But are you sure? I've read in most cases that that's a myth, and 'tis completely untrue.

I can't stand Nair. For one, it smells awful. Two, it leaves my skin irritated and red.

Haha funny story though...my friend used Nair on her eyebrows (the area above and below them), and it didn't work - it just left her face red and she said it looked like she burned her eyebrows. It wasn't until after that she saw the big "DO NOT USE ON FACE" warning on the bottle XD.gif .

XD.gif Wow. The face is too sensitive for such products.

I don't use wax to remove hair, but I think I'd use Veet. I'd have to try out the razorless shaving idea as well as the wax you spread on and remove/throw away after it dries. Veet is awesome.

From what I'm reading, when you remove hair from your body, like from your legs, it looks thicker when it comes back, right?

That's almost true. When the hair comes back, the part that comes just above the surface of your skin, the first part that you see and feel is the thickest part of the entire hair. Technically, your hair has not grown thicker, it's just your only seeing the fattest part. If you grew it out all the way, it would be exactly the same thickness as it was before you took your hair off. But I don't know why you would want to do that since this whole thread is about getting rid of hair. biggrin.gif

I just wanted to clear that up because one of my friends believed that shaving off hair makes it come back in thicker, so she said she was going to shave her head. crazy.gif

I think the reason why many people say it looks thicker is because the tip of the hair is thick. Naturally, the tip of your hair is thin and soft. After shaving, the hair doesn't have the soft end. For waxing though, I think it grows out to be softer/thinner.

And laugh.gif for that last bit. Shaving your head will most likely give you straighter/softer hair (or so I've heard).
