I saw the first one years and years ago and loved it. When I heard about the sequel I was kind of excited, but I had never gotten anything but negative feedback so I avoided it. So, as to date, I have only seen the original. Many many times. Maybe too many times. Of course, I still adore the film, but I think Asian cinema has much better to offer. Even just Asian extreme cinema. But, it'll always be a kind of classic in my eyes. wink.gif

I know exactly how you feel. I heard nothing but negative things about BR2 but i still wanted to watch it to see how the story ends. Which was crap but it was worth it. BR1 on the other hand is like my number 2 favorite movie of all time. I love it!

BR1 was good I liked it better than part 2, I read the manga for 1 also, not what I expected but it was worth it.

Yeah. The Manga is quite a bit different. And, although I am not a fan of most manga, I found it to be decently entertaining. It resembles more closely the novel, of the same name, that the film was adapted. There is quite a bit of Battle Royal styled merchandise and entertainment, heh.

Still waiting on the Anime series, huh? whistling.gif

I just finished watching Battle Royale. It was a pretty cool movie. Confusing at times, but still cool. And pretty funny at some points...

HA you watched it. Good huh. Yeah the book is great, the 1st movie great, manga is good but the 2nd movie fell apart. Anime series would be perfect. High school kids fighting for survival with some romance and drama. What more could you ask for.

I still think it's a good movie though.
The books seem interesting, I guess I should try picking one up at the library or something.

Funny thing about BR is that its so complex and psychological yet it really just boils down to everyday household fights between adults and children.

Ha ha yeah. Especially in the 2nd movie. "We will fight against all of the adults."
Yeah, I want to read the book now. The action the movies were still good though.

Oh yeah. I just finished watching Battle Royale II.

Just bumping this because...

New Line Cinema is doing a remake set to release in a year and a half (2008) ohmy.gif I don't know who's going to direct it or who's going to star in it but I can say this: they better not mess up a good thing.

What are your opinions on this?

Lol I would love to be in that movie... such fun!

Oh, I saw it the other day, really fun! Not to imply that I am generally amused by slaughter, however...

I would have had fewer characters and more character development if it were down to me, because I got to the point where it was all a bit 'oh, another kid dead, don't care'... but that's a minor niggle.
