Yeah, yeah, this is old news, but we need some current events topics about it.
No debating here, please. If you want to debate, there's a topic about stem-cell research in there. But feel free to express your opinions.

Here's the article.

If you want some more information on this, here's a good link.

I, personally, wasn't surprised that President Bush vetoed this bill. But it is sad that he is willing to choose the 'life' of a frozen embryo over that of an Alzheimer's patient or a diabetic.

Instead of throwing away these embryos, I say put them to use to benefit the greater good of humanity.

Yeah, I knew he was going to veto it. He said a couple of years ago that he would. I bet him doing so helped satisfy members of his party that were mad at him on his ideas on our countries issues.

Shouldnt this be in the debate forum?

I read an article about this earlier today in the Las Vegas Review-Journal. It strikes close to home for me, 'cause I'm a diabetic, and seeing that our president vetoed the bill disappoints me and as well as other victims of many diseases. stubborn.gif

Those embryos could really be used for better advancements in science, but instead he's worried about morals and the taking away of innocent lives, when really those embryos have no life involved whatsoever.

Government representatives from my state are pushing for stem cell research though.

Not surprised either. Bush had stated that he would veto the bill before. Ah well, on the bright side, at least the science outran the politics. Through all the argument, a ton of research has still been done: diabetes, spinal cord injuries, even more on stem cells, etc.

Yep Yep. I think its a little too late though, he's already been in office 6 years. He says stem cell research is immoral, but its not. Instead of the stem cells being used for science, they're destroyed. Its not like we're killing people for them, science is just finding use for ones that would just be destroyed anyways. stubborn.gif

The whole issue really pisses me off. If one of Bush's parents had alzimers (sp?) or something, I bet he wouldnt have vetoed it.

^ Jeebus no. He's still our president, and he did win the election. Just let him finish his presidency terms.

It's getting exciting now, 2 and 1/2. Think of everything we've accomplished, man. Out these windows, we will view the collapse of financial history. One step closer to economic equilibrium.

I heard during my ELA class, that Bush's cousin or something, the govenor of Florida, if i'm not wrong was going to run for President. So if he wins the election, it's gonna be like 12 years under the Bush family control. There was also a discussion on how the way Bush is running this country is similar to how a communist country would run. I think Im totally going off topic. _unsure.gif

If he's running for president it would be very hard for him to win. In november for the house election(i think?) Democrats are going to be the majority. (yay!) Hed have to do alot of favors.

Actually, the governor of Florida is Bush's younger brother. Of course, he's all for the same things his brother and father are for. Personally, if another Bush ever wins the presidential election, my butt's going to Canada. laugh.gif

Well... errr. I dont know about him running the country like a communist country, but our country has definately gone down hill over the past 6 years.
