tonight a couple of friends and i went to visit a mutual friend at work. anyhow the conversation went a little like this. quite short.
me: can we get sitted ? (jokingly) him: no you're a minority me : are you kidding.. then they talked to him for a little bit.. i was just like sitting there in the blank. then we were all going to leave and i'm like straight for the door and was already out the second and they hadn't left yet and the mutual friend just had to keep talking in there so i just kind of held the door open.. anyhow the point is.. should i be offended that he said that ? i mean.. i don't think it's necessary to keep reminding me that i'm a minority. last time i saw him he said something like "go back to you're country" |

I am Israeli, and although I look like an american who has been here forever and I have no accent (now)- I'v recived my fair share of "jokes" and I know they aren't funny... I went to british scool in Holland at first, and trust me, my first day at an american school with a bristish accent really sucked.
Just wondering- by minority do you mean black? Or are you asian or something? If you don't want to anser it's fine, I'm just wondering. Anyway- what I do is act like what they say is just wierd. LIke it's immature kinda. Sometimes they start to think that no one finds it to be funny anymore and let it go. If they do it alot then I'll ask them to stop. |

^ you dont have to stoop to his level and call him gay because thats as bad as him calling you a minority. dont worry im hispanic to and i get my share of lil jokes and people walking away fast becuz they think i might hurt their "children" and they are not funny. ..just tell him to lay off and tell him it bothers you. my guy friend used to say "wet back jokes" and "beaner" and i told him that it offended me and he stopped so ur friend should understand.
in my opnion jokes are not funny when it invovles peoples races or apperances. |
