I was wondering whether you think there should be a Honor's Society, what's the gpa that you have to have to be on your school's, and whether you are on your school's Honor Society.

I personally think that an Honor's Society or honor roll is a good idea, because it gives initiative for the students to work towards something. My school's gpa for honor roll is 80% and higher, and yes, I am on it. _smile.gif

I think this belongs in the School subforum.

But yes, the Honor Society is a good thing IMO.
I'm not on it though. _smile.gif Haha. Oh phooey..

I was on it in middle school. That was fun.

Oops sorry! I forgot there was a school forum. pinch.gif

At my school it doesn't matter what grade you're in to be on the honor's society.

Hmm, in middle school, I was on the Honor Roll all 3 years. The requirements for each grade were different though.

For High school, there's the National Honor Society (also known as Arista) and you can apply at the end of sophomore or junior year to be on it the next year. I don't exactly remember the requirements though. But I was on it Junior and Senior years.

If your GPA is over a 3.0 and no mark is below a C, then you get to be on the Honour Roll.

Which, in my opinion, is much too easy. I honestly don't think anyone with a C should be on the Honour Roll.

Yeah, I definitely agree that nobody with a C should get to be on honor roll. thumbsup.gif

It's too easy.

We have 1st honours and 2nd honours. 1st honours is a gpa between 3.5 & 4.0 and 2nd honours is 3.0 - 3.5
And yes, I've been 1st honours for all of high school. _smile.gif

Our school has National Honors Society.
I think the GPA has to be 3.5 and higher but it's only for Juniors & Seniors so I'm not in it.

I am in California Scholarship Federation, but not high enough GPA to make it to National Honor's Society. Those people in NHS at my school have like 4+ GPA...

To be on the honor roll at our school, you need to have at least a 3.6 GPA with nothing below a B-. To be in either NJHS or NHS, you had to have a cumulative 3.6 gpa with nothing below a B-. I never applied.

You have to have a 3.5+ for ours and I'm in it. I was in NJHS in middle school too. We have both honor roll and National Honors Society. You have to be a junior or senior to be in NHS and I am an incoming junior.

you have to have a 3.5+ GPA, a junior/senior, you have to be picked, and you have to have all the usual essays & all that hoopla.

only a sophomore so..

Well, I go to a Christian private school, so its a little different that most schools. At my school the Honour Society is for Juniors and Seniors.

- 3.5 gpa throughout highschool (9th - whatever grade your in)
- must be active in a church

So errr due to the second requirement, I'm not in it. cool.gif

there's this honor society, ARISTA. it's like for select schools around the US. i'm in it, i think. or at least i was in 8th grade. i might have to rejoin next year.

honor roll in my school is like 85, i think. and Principal's Honor Roll is like.. 90. i'm not sure but yeah. i was on the Principal's Honor Roll for like 3 years in a row.

to join ARISTA, i needed like an average above 90. and some service credit from teachers.
