Because people don't wanna filter out the difference between all the games and an actual topic even if it is a pointless one. It was called forum games for a reason. Turning the sandbox into a junkyard would be the lazy/easy way to go about things.

It's not just games. It stopped being just games the moment people started making spam topics (besides Justin's, which actually kind of had a point) and the mods stopped closing them.

I also doubt that the addition of that forum would stop the spammage of the lounge.

We wouldn't have had leniency if not for Jusun either, so I think that poin is entirely moot. The point is, it's not that easy to just reverse things. Having the lounge being unmoderated was supposed to be tentavtive. The idea failed miserably. However, even with moderation, it's still out of control now.

This pointless forum is about the same as the unmoderated lounge. Do we like the unmoderated lounge? Absolutely not. How is it worth a try to make another forum to gather spam? If someone makes a topic in the sandbox that isn't technically a game, is anyone going to move it? No. It's not even called "forum games" anymore. If people won't use it the way they're supposed to now, why would this help? It would still be more fun to spam where you're not supposed to.

And me not going there isn't a very good point, either. I don't go to the sandbox anymore because I know it'll give me a headache. I don't want to have to avoid half the forum.

Yes, but he didn't. I know that's what you meant, but that isn't how he proposed it. That particular hypothetical sitatuion is not all that relevant, though. The fact remains that it didn't work, and it just left another mess to clean up. No shit people can't be stopped from making stupid topics.

That's why there's the sandbox!!! There are places to spam and say anything useless you want. Does that contain anything? Not really. What exactly does it accomplish to have part of the community set off from the rest?

well, celarly, the sandbox doesnt work. so it follows logically to try something else. it's common sense, deary. i havent the faintest idea wat it would accomplish. the best case scenario would be that it helped reduce spam in the lounge. the worst case is that it doesnt. in any event, there is no foreseeable way in which this idea will cause things to WORSEN, so why oppose it so strongly? apart from the fact that you personally dislike the people who would use such a forum.

Personal dislike has nothing to do with it. I just didn't think it was a particularly good idea. i also wouldn't be arguing it this strongly if you weren't saying things. I would have left it at my one first post, but you took my words a bit more literally than you should have.

I didn't say it had anything to do with me being me . You should have realized not to take me quite so literally by now, though. And my point about argumentation was that I just didn't want it to end up there. Because we do. If we can argue as hard as we do over flipflops and moot, other disagreements aren't particualrly likely to end well either. Plus, i don't happen to trust myself not to be completely obnoxious and horrid right now.

hm, if this was the case then why arent the topics that are closed in the lounge moved to Sandbox? there obviously must still be confusion. i dont remember a meeting saying you can post any topic you want in there. considering the majority of things in there are indeed games. so im guessing the majority of people arent informed that you can post anything you want. i know i wasnt. you cant just come out and say it now.or have the sandbox be the answer for everything.

infact, right next to the sandbox it says: "Start a forum game or play one! Good for passing time." i see nothing about being able to spam or make anything besides a game. so stop acting like its obvious. at least change that, or the name of the sub forum, instead of making it like an unwritten rule.

well, that i sbecause they are all in teh lounge. if there WERE a significant numbe rof spam topics in the sandbox, someone would complain because th games were being cluttered, as is the case with the lounge.

I understand if some are against this idea (I am too) because spam will continue to exist in the Lounge. But, I'm willing to allow spam topics that get closed in the Lounge to be moved to the Sandbox. I also understand if the spam topic in there is getting boring so hopefully this will change that. If people do continue to spam greatly in the Lounge, harsher punishments will be given. Other than that, there would be no point in fighting to decrease spam if it will continue to follow out tails all the time.
