I searched, but was surprised not to find any topics on this (sorry if there were).
---
I'm 15, I'm 5'2" and I weigh 128. It's not CRAZY overweight, but it's still pretty chubby. ermm.gif I'm already dieting a lot, but my doctor suggests I exercise more too. I can't STAND just running on a treadmill. It's sooooo boring I want to cry. cry.gif There's nothing to think about except for 'I'm too fat and that's why I'm running'. cry.gif
Does anyone have any INTERESTING or *gasp* even FUN ways to exercise?
ANYTHING.
Please? sad.gif

you could do aerobics maybe?or when you go for a run take portable music with you and each time you exercise, reward yourself,as in go and buy yourself a little something...but not food lol..
Or go to your local gym and see what they have to offer...what about swimming?

Try bellydancing. go to www.goddesslife.com and check her videos. I lost almost 20 pounds belly dancing every otherday and it makes you feel good about urself and teaches you to move. Its great fun. and that can get old so grab like turbo jam that I've heard its super fun or like tae bo, which I did as well. But if you have any back problems tae bois not for you. If buying videos (try eBay first) is too much of an investment for you, try running in your neighborhood with cd player or iPod with lots of upbeat songs on it that way you have something to look at other than a wall. Also, try reading a book while ur on thetreadmill. It distracts you from what u are doing so you tend to get thru ur workout much faster than you realize. hmm..what else. Dance dance revolution. If your parents love you, have them buy you a dance dance revolution pad and the game (if you have a ps2 or something like that) and the game actually has a calorie burning setting. Thats a lot of fun as well. Or just turn on mtv and dance with the music videos. Kirstie Alley did that for 20 minutes a day in heels to help her lose weight because she had to exercise for her jenny craig plan. So theres lots of alternatives to traditional exercise you can find. The best thing is to keep it exciting and different so you don't get totally burned out.

DANCE DANCE DANCE!!!! Girl, get up and DANCE!! I'm serious! Copy old Britney videos, teach your friends new routines...whatever! I KNOW you lose weight by dancing, trust me. Every time I do a show where I'm a dancer I drop ten pounds. That's extreme, but seriously, DANCE baby!

Thanks- I'll check that bellydancing site out.
Reading on the treadmill sounds like a good idea too, but wouldn't it be hard to read while bouncing up/down? lol

The cheapest, most convenient I can think of is to run outside on a nice day in a place with beautiful scenery, and pump up the volume on your iPod when a fast, energetic song comes on. (I run with Franz Ferdinand, lol.)

You could always try some new things like Pilates or like others have mentioned, dancing, or trying out a sport you might be interested in. You could also move the TV in front of the treadmill and watch some soccer at the same time or something. Watching sports while running always makes me pumped, for some reason.

Anyway, exercise is all about the mind. If you focus your mind enough, you won't get bored or tired as easily. Running with nothing but the sound of your feet hitting the treadmill...of course you're going to be bored! All you'll think of is running and how tiring it is. Just find lots of things to preoccupy yourself with when you're exercising, and that should help instantly.

I have to agree. DDR is a fun way to excercise, especially if you like videogames. Or I usually go shopping or walk around the city for hours. Although you might end up spending money. Also biking around the neighborhood with friends is fun and it helps me get my legs in shape.

If you want to stay inside, dance, do yoga, pilates, that sort. But if you want to run and all, go outside, it's a lot more effective than running on treadmills.

Run with friends. Go to a school & run laps.. You have your friends to push you, and you hardly think about running when you're with people

I just try to keep myself more occupied during the day like instead of sitting and watch tv i can be doing something else fun outside. Bike riding is fun and if you have a dog you can take it for a fast walk. I like doing yoga and playing tennis. Find a sport or active hobby you enjoy and get more involved in it. I exercise about 3 hours a day but i don't do it all at once & i just split it up during different parts of the day. Like they said, you can do other things while exercising like reading, watching tv, or listening to music. Doing activities or exercising along with someone else can motivate you and make it more fun. Just get creative. I hope this helped you come up with some ideas.
