anyone else sick of the whole "emo" hairstyle? i mean, think about it, you're basically just taking a pair of scissors and hacking away at their own head. some people go way too far and it looks like they have mullets. seriously, we're gonna look back on this 20 years from now and laugh at ourselves.

yeah...so im done venting now.

It doesn't matter me. I think some of the trends that are "emo"-ish are quite nice actually. I mean, whatever suits them, right?

As long as they're not forcing me to dress or act like anything I'm not, then I'm fine.

I dunno, I can never imagine myself with the "emo" look. I actually think a lot of people dress that way because it's supposedly trendy now, making them fake. But I know a few people out there actually dress that way, because they believe that that's how they feel inside. If that's the case, I have no problem with it. But the whole "BANG BANG I'M ELECTRIKK!!!" thing really does piss me off...

Honestly, I think everything is a trend. To at least some extent.
But then there are those who are really "out there" in doing their own thing.
So to those few individuals, I applaud. clap.gif

I agree with you...
Though the whole "scene" look is more overpopulated, I guess you could say, then other styles.
But there are a lot of "preps" and "gangsters" and "goths" too...

only a few emo hairstyle looks really nice.

the ones you see probably look like shit.

i hate the one that have all their hair cover their face. that's ugly.

i like some ... with certain hair sticks up and down, side of the hair only cover part of the eye or corner of the forehead.

Um, that isn't rude?

I'm personally not in favor of that trend but hey, I don't become ignorant and start cracking cheap jokes on it. It is what it is. They do what they do. It's their own thing. I don't think you can "de-emofy them". It's just another phase in history as much as the grunge thing was in the early 90s. Deal with it; grow up.

its some lame trend.

They only like it over the internet.
not in real life.

seriously.

Its a genre of music. the whole scene thing i would believe just to be the name of the lifestyle. At the beginning the whole lifestyle started with the whole sxe [straight-edge] thing. And so on, I just don't pay any mind to it. Unless these little 12 yr olds are bragging about being emo, and go about the whole sluttish way. Then the normal one. 0_o although whats the normal way.. I'm going to shut up.. .-_-

sorry but thats incredibly rude.

Emo the genre of music does mena Emotional Punk music.

But it doesn't mean people that follow the supposed lifestyle cut themselves and are depressed. Atleast some do have enough sense to know they have no reason to be depressed because people out there do have reasons unlike them. People that cut just show how weak they are.

whatever they want because it's their
business not ours. Why can't people
just leave other people alone. Let them
go on with there lives and do what they
want to. People shouldn't be making

*random not so random observation*

There is a crap load of "Emo" topics at cB.

Seems to me (and this is just a superficial observation, mind you) that these "Emo" styles you people speak of is what in the 80's we referred to as "goth" or at one point, "grunge goth."

Another decade, another *style genre*.

And here I am, just wanting to see someone sport the MC Hammer pants again - because *that* was entertaining.

Short for emotive hardcore, emo is a genre of rock that grew out of the DC hardcore punk scence of the 1980s. Hardcore punk was mainly about politics or other social issues; emo denoted hardcore punk music that focused on the feelings, emotions, and circumstances of an individual, rather than a large socioeconomic group.

Yeah I know what Emo music is and I know emo fashion. I know some Emo people but what is Emo lifestyle?

How would u define it?? I hear to many people complaining about it so I think it's only fair for a person that is emo to share their views.

If it looks good on them, I like it. It's not that bad, I cut my own hair too, and it looks pretty good, it's not like an "emo" look or anything. Would you call this emo?

thats not me btw, thats some Japanese guitarist named Hiroto. People think he looks emo, but he's just a band member, and they dont even play emo music. A lot of people just use the look because it looks good on them, but they're not really "emo"

^No. Thats not emo. It looks more.....gothic to me.
I don't care for it. If people want to express their thoughts through clothing its their choice. We can't tell them to stop. They're not hurting anyone. [Probably themselves if they're emo.]

He's not even gothic, it's just a style, there are so many other pictures of him and other people, hardly any of them look the same, they change their style all the time, and thats just one of them

Well I was just taking a guess at it, I have really never heard of him. It looked grungy to me. But back to the topic, let the 'Emo' people live how they want. No need to label them.

^ I agree. If they want to be emo, let them. If they want to cut (although not all of them do) let them. We can HELP them and try to get them to stop the cutting and hopefully be less depressed, but we can't force them to. Besides, to the preppy people, they start saying shit about you when they hear you say shit about them. They'll be saying "Those preps are nothing but snobby rich kids," and stuff like that.

Everyone should remember this quote, it's very popular.
"Treat others they way you want to be treated."

I think the whole teen generation should be reminded of that quote.

No, I'm not sick of it. I think it looks cool... it's sort of rebelling against the whole preppy world of sh*t...

ugh, i hate preppy stuff...

it's a way to not conform... unless of course you're cutting your hair like that specifically so you can be considered a nonconformist...

i, myself, don't like to conform. I just like what appeals to me, i do what i like to do.

My "emo" friend came with us to downtown last night and everyone EVERYONE would turn around to look at us. Not sure what they found so interesting about him. Sure his pants were tight but other than that it was nothing drastic. I don't know. I thought it was ridiculous. I hate living in the damn bible belt. So close-minded..

hey... anybody ever think of this?

maybe emo people are sick of "normal" (if that's how you might wanna refer to it... i prefer not to) people's style.

it's not like emos aren't entitled to their own opinions.

I don't wear girl pants. I wear fitted thighs and boot cut guy jeans. I wear pants that actually fit and I get called emo. Oh, and did I mention I really don't give a damn?

I think the look is great. People are so critical of it because, personally, I think they're a little envious of it because it really is hard to pull off and most people who tried to would look like shit. It's a lot harder to pull off then poppin' a polo. I used to dress like that... pinch.gif But, yeah, I'm not sick of the look at all. happy.gif It's the most original look I've seen. Kids at my school all make their own necklaces and draw their own designs and stuff. I don't think I'm really emo or scene... I dress the way I want.

i dont think. that its annoying.
but some of the hairstyles are really ugly.
and then people are just like.

OMFGZZ I LOVE YOUR HAIRR.

just because now, they are 'emo' because
they have an 'emo' haircut.

AND.

so what if they're depressed?
some people have feelings.

Emo, like Michael mentioned earlier, is emotive hardcore.

& people, there's a difference between scene & emo.

Emo kids are more in touch w/ their feelings. Maybe too much. pinch.gif
They'll usually wear darker clothes. Oh, & they wear hoodies a lot, too.
They supposebly enjoy writing poetry & listen to bands like Fall Out Boy, The Used, From First to Last, & Senses Fail.

Scene kids are pretty much obsessed w/ little kid things (Pokémon, Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, etc).
They usually wear brighter colors & wear an excessive amount of makeup.
They don't put their hair in their faces, instead they usually cut the top of their hair & bleach the top of their hair blonde. idk how to explain it.
They also wear extra big sunglasses & supposebly enjoy photography.
They're mostly straightedge & listen to hardcore or post hardcore bands. Oh, & they usually put 4875038 bands on their music section on their myspace although they probably don't listen to most of them.

These are only from my observations, so don't expect it to be completely accurate, but from what I've seen, scene kids are trendier.

To me, the emo trend seems to be dying out & everyone has moved on to being scene.

Yes, it's annoying, but what can we do?

Hmm, I enjoy writing poetry and I listen to all the bands you listed. Actually, The Used and From First to Last are two of my favorite bands. Last time I checked, I wasn't emo.

*sigh* Kids and their stereotypes.

Who cares what people dress like today. And why is it only emo/scene people that get judged. there's other styles of cloths out today too. We don't go around bashing preppy people or gangsters. And how does hair make someone something eles? People are people, not some stupid lable...

personally, i'm not quite over it yet. scene kids should be allowed to look and dress they want to.

why do we not critisize the "preppy" look, or whatever other ways there are to dress out there? everybody has a unique style, i think it's about time to deal.

what does the first part have to do with anything? the only thing in grammar that i don't give a shit about when i'm online is capitalization... it's not as important.

anyhow... you didn't exactly specify what "it" is (when you said, "it's a fad.") so i'm not exactly sure how to respond. do you mean the the emo thing is a fad, or that the "normal" way to dress is a fad?

THe whole emo scene is pretty stupid. i dont mean to bash anyone though. Its just .. . that the hair style for me is telling me that you need to find a stylist and get a haircut. My little brother went through the whole emo thing. I was always wondering if he was okay since his hair would cover his eyes. We all thought that the hair was getting in his way and was distracting him form school. atleast no he finally cut his hair.
