i got a really bad burn today and i was wondering what you guys do to help it. my friends said that if you put lotion on it, the burn will turn into a tan. i usually use after sun aloe stuff but that doesn't work very well for me. so what do you use?

i use pure aloe vera.
like straight out of the plant.
i suggest growing one in your backyard, and cutting a piece everytime you get a sunburn.

Pain and redness from a sunburn usually peak after about 24 hours, and blisters sometimes follow. Follow these steps as soon as it becomes apparent that you've got a burn.

Steps:
1. Take a cool bath or shower and gently pat yourself dry.

2. Cover the sunburned area with 100 percent aloe vera gel, hydrocortisone cream or sunburn lotion.

3. Apply cool, wet compresses to the burned area whenever you need relief from the heat.

4. Take aspirin or ibuprofen several times a day to reduce pain and inflammation. Wear loose-fitting clothing to avoid irritating the burn.

5. Avoid breaking any water blisters. Apply antibacterial ointment to any that break on their own.

Vaseline by eHow Friend
I recently fell asleep in the swimming pool for 30 minutes while it was cloudy, and despite the fact I was wearing factor 30, I still got burnt to a crisp. I have tried everything, aloe, after sun, Calamine lotion, etc. As a last resort I put Vaseline on the burn and it has done absolute wonders!

it helped me too ;D

when i had a bad sunburn.. i used aloe or a rehydrating face mask..or you can try putting mashed banana's on your face for a mask or mashed mangoes. good luck..and if your peeling nivea creme is pretty good.

Aloe Vera is the green stuff right?

Use that or any kind of sunburn treatment, obviously.

try working at a water park...that sucks...

cold lotion might help soothe it but i guess you will just have to wait until your skin heals. and next time use sunscreen! a tan is nice, but a burn is your skin literally cooking...

i don't get sunburn very much, but if i do, then i use clinique after-sun (i think that's what it's called) and it works well! it soothes your face, and it's very cooling.
