imo anyone that smokes is a dumbass. and don't give me stuff like "maybe he just made a bad mistake in life." cuz after all taht convincing he got NOT to smoke he still smokes like a dumbass. they deserve to get cancer cuz they're fuking stupid.

Smoking is a hard addiction to break, with the nicotine and all.
And yes, despite all of the risks you're taking to your health by doing so, people still do it regardless. Dumb? IMO, yes. But I remember once that the money that tobacco companies make actually help quite a few health organizations? Or something like that, I could be wrong. It's ironic. Bleh. |

 I don't think smoking is stupid, per se. Driving without seatbelts... That's stupid. It would be dumb if they do it to get cancer, which I doubt people do. The nicotine has effects of its own which help sometimes (i.e. when I'm bugging out about the final that's coming in a few hours). I agree with Miss Chrissy that it is rather rude. |

I don't necessarily think smoking is stupid..
What's STUPID is when people already have cancer and they're walking outside wheeling their IV bag out to smoke. I've seen it happen. Yeah, but my father died of emphysema from years of smoking at a fairly early age, so it's not like smoking isn't harmful.. It just doesn't affect everyone the same way. |

^ that depends on the frequency and the strength of the cigarette. i've been smoking on and off for over a year, and i dont suffer any ill effects whn i go for a couple of weeks without a cigarette. but then, i dont smoke all that often. a couple of times a week socialy, and that about it.

i mean, most people are brought up and told not to smoke and warned of the health problems it will DEFINITELY cause. those who were pressured to smoke don't have the strength to repel this "peer pressure". the action of picking up the first cigarette, lighting it, and then picking up another one is in itself "stupid", considering that everyone, or 99% of people know what happens when you smoke. |

Anyone watch "Supersize Me" with Morgan Spurlock? In one of the interviews, they talk about a man who went up to a woman who was smoking in a public restaurant and heckling her for it - where she just said "Mind your own business, I'm trying to quit." They probably do know the risks. Addiction is hard. |

Umm, actually I do sort of have an opinion on this, I guess.
People who smoke are not stupid. My dad smokes when he's really stressed, and guess what? He's never gotten hooked. He has a strong enough willpower to know when to stop. So I'm just going to assume that you won't call him stupid too. =) But think about it. Being obsessed with basically anything is stupid. Drinking too much alcohol is stupid. {And personally, I think that's a LOT stupider than smoking. For instance, what you can do to other people when you're drunk, or drunk driving and killing someone.} Eating too much is stupid. Playing too many videogames or even EXERCISING too much is stupid. Life is full of a lot of things that you can get addicted to. Don't call people stupid just because they fall into an easy trap that you could just as easily fall into. |

you have no right to judge any1 else. i do not smoke cigarettes (though thats all i will say), but when I blaze, its just cuz theres too much terrible sh*t to deal with in my life right now and if someone tells me itll make me feel better, im gonna do it. f**k peer pressure, i know its not gonna make me cool and most likely wont make me feel any better about myself, but im just desperately searching for someway to get away from the constant reminders of the failure that is my life. |
