Besides being Cinco de Mayo (which our Spanish teacher doesn't care about huh.gif ), it is National No-Pants Day! Do you plan to celebrate? I'm wearing a skirt and am going to find some plausible way to go to school without underpants. laugh.gif

National No-Pants Day?
Hrm, that's a new one.

And err, going commando with a skirt?
Good luck. blink.gif

I don't plan on celebrating it though. I wear dresses and skirts for "dress-up"y occasions and I don't really consider "National No-Pants Day" one of 'em for me. sweating.gif

But, Happy-soon-to-be-National-No-Pants-Day for all of you who are celebrating. _smile.gif

Oh, I just realized that besides being Cinco de Mayo and apparently Pantsless Day, May 5th is also the day of my APUSH exam, a friend's birthday, and prom (which if you ask just about anyone at school right now may as well be considered a real holiday considering how retarded everyone is acting because of it).

It wasn't like I was actiually just making up bullshit. Then, instead of hit the wrong smiley and didn't provide an actual explanation. It hardly matters.

I didn't understand ANYTHING you said in your previous posts.

Becuase it's a Mexican holiday that people celebrate as an excuse to drink a bunch of margatias. You can actually differentiate between Mexico's independance day and Cinco de Mayo, but most people don't, and thus the ignorance makes it pointless. Initially it wasn't pointless, but that's what it's become.

It commemorates the victory of Mexican forces led by General Ignacio Zaragoza over the French expeditionary forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

It is a common misconception that Cinco de Mayo is Mexico's Independence Day.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinco_de_mayo

it celebrates when a small Mexican army defeated a large French army. and back then, France was known to have the most powerful army. it was an important victory for the Mexicans.

today in Spanish, all we did was talk about Cinco de Mayo. something intresting that we talked about was why Americans celebrate it.

why do you guys think that Cinco de Mayo is sort of a national holiday here?
