Hello. Hmm. I have a question. A while ago I entered a layout called "Orange Stripes & Butterflies" for myspace and it got accepted. Recently, some person IMed me and asked me if I wanted to make layouts for his community, URflair.com, and I said no. Then a couple days later I see a layout that is pretty similar to mine.
Mine: Orange Stripes & Butterflies His: "Orange Stripes" Should I leave it alone or should I say something because I doubt it was a coincidence and it really stinks to see someone copy it. But I feel guilty for being a little flustered by this because it was an extremely easy layout to make. What do you think I should do? |

Well you can't accuse him from the start. No matter how much you think he stole it. Tell him that the layout he made is much similar to the one that you made. First ask him once if he did jock your layout and if he refuses then you can try reviewing the codes to see if they're similar.

aiyyyyyyy. but now that i think about it. even if he did stole it. what's talking to him gonna do? It's not like I can take it out myself and he probably won't take it off. :/ and the site isn't really popular...but some people already used it on their myspace.

Here's the owner of the site? Well that's not very fair of him. Are you SURE that he jocked it? Did you make that background yourself, just curious because if you did...then that's unacceptable. He claimed it as his own?

yeah i made it myself. i just put orange stripes but i thought it was boring and i put butterflies with a brush all over it.
it does suck. i know its simple to make but do you have to make it THAT SIMILAR. he could of just changed it to a different color.. lol... so.. :/ bummer. not very fair, especially because he is the owner. |

I definately think you should tell him about it, especially since that's basically the exact same thing. Just be kind about it, if you bitch about it to him then he's probably not gonna take it off.

Hey, I'm actually a Moderator on that website, and the Admin there is really cool (close friend of mine), and I reported the problem to him, as well as even removed the Layout for you.
If you would have just reported to the Admin, he would have taken care of it within minutes, he's an honest good hearted person. Anyway, I took care of it for you since he wasn't around. Sorry for the trouble and I am so deeply sorry that we may have broke copyright laws against you! Hmm it appears that this problem is resolved. I'm really glad that it is and thank you, BlueSync, for removing it.
I would have to agree with BlueSync that you, tkdjelly, should've reported it to the admin of the site first (as some have said), then if the problem persisted, then resort to plan B. Any instance that you feel that there is a problem, you should've notified them. But once again, I'm glad the problem is resolved.  If anyone deems it necessary that this topic remain open for a probably reason, please notify a staff member. With that being said... TOPIC CLOSED. |
