laugh.gif I'm sorry, but that reminds me of that Cher song, even though it's, "Do you believe in life after love?" Haha.

Okay, yeah, I believe in reincarnation. _smile.gif

It's nice to believe that you get something after death. I'd like to believe that I'd be able to meet again the ones I've lost.

Well Yes.

I was in Sunday School the other day, and I've always thought of it this way, so it surprised me when this guy thought of it like that too. He was like "I was arguing with this girl, and she was telling me some stuff and making some very good points about why she shouldn't believe in God like, "All those people starving, if there was a god, they wouldnt let that happen" and I told her, I sat right there next to her, and I said, Flow, You may be well right. Say you are right. When we die, there is nothing, no burning flames, no purgatory, no heaven, and when we die, That's it. We're done.. But If I'm right, and there is a God.... Where does that leave you? It's my insurance"

Believing that once you die you have some place to go is rather comforting. It makes death seem less final and more of a transition. I'd like to believe there's something to look forward to after I die.

Wouldn't it be nice if it was like that scene about heaven in Monty Python's the Meaning of Life? It's always Christmas ... floor shows nightly ... laugh.gif

I believe in reincarnation. You know that energy doesn't like die off?? Energy is preserved, so when you die the energy is still around on earth again, and then yeah... Heh, I dunno, but you can thank my mom's side of the family for my belief in superstitions such as that... According to my calculations (kinda weird)n I'm on my 2nd life? err, i'm not weird, k? i may not have a scientific exlpaination.

I think this life is just the beginning,

that we won't just be "done"

when people stop seeing us

2nd life eh? awesome...

i think when we die, we are still floating around in some dimension not earth, earth was created as the 3D dimension where us, mortals, humans exist. where we try to find the end of the universe, but our life was created so that we would never get out of the third dimension. we will be living as spirits without our bodies, and our bodies will be just left in the 3D world.

of course, some of you people may heard of the chinese myth, where when we die, there is a gate with a old lady, she will ask us to drink this bowl of herbal tea and we will forget about everything and then live in our next life. But some rumor/news said some people still remember what they were last life, this article said this child whose life before was a pig, and now he still has a pig hand because he didn't reborn well enough.

Yeah.. I'd like to think that... oh! it reminds me of this book I read, either "The Bridge Across Forever" or "One", both by Richard Bach, but i cant remember which one had it, anyways, the main character was investigating astral projection, and (supposedly Bach is writing about his own experiences) and he is able, in his sleep to project himself from his body, like he could see his body laying there, attached with a golden chord, and he could fly anywhere.. but when he collded with someone, he'd be instantly jerked back into his body and wake up.. and he theorized that when we die, all that simply happens is that we float out of our bodies like in astral projection, except that its permanent, and the chord is cut.. now i'm not sure how much, if any of that, is true, but i'd sure like to think it is

I beleive there's a heaven (whether there's a God or not, you believe what you want), and then everyone's just realxing and having fun all peaceful and stuff, and if you want to be reincarnated, there's this big Slide-o'-Reincarnation and you slip back into the world if you want. I suppose there is a "hell," but that's so dreary to think about.

Tea? I thought it was porridge?

Never mind, I think different cultures have a different explaination for it...

"Life is short. Live it up."

Sound advice.

"Khrushchev looks like a giant teddy bear."
--One of my classmates

Equally sound observation.

herbal tea, if your cantonese, it is "fu cha"

but it is not porridge, it could be "jok" congee. but not porridge for sure.

How are we off topic? We're discussing whether or not its tea or porridge that we consume when passing to the other side.. We're very on topic.

I don't really care much for the afterlife... if it's there then 'wooo hooo', if not then oh well. I lived, I can't complain.

Do you have statistics for that claim? There are many other religions and while Christianity may the the one dominant religion, that doesn't mean that more than half of the world's population follows that faith.

No need to wait til class.

Go here.

Scroll to the pie chart. It states that Christianity dominates the world by 33%. However, if you add up all the other religions: Hindus, Muslims, non-religions, atheists, Buddhists alone, you would get more than 33%.

In shorter words, other religions combined are the majority.

Ya know, just because you say you believe God doesn't mean you're going to heaven. I may not be a religious nut, but I know that much.

It really depends on which God you believe in though. The fire and brimstone kickass God from 2000 years ago that would smite your ass if you even squeeked a word about evolution, or our modernized conservative God that people softned up for today's oh-so-very tough world.

Dude, wow. God forbid there are "questions" and "logical reasonings" in a debate, I mean seriously. I mean, the mere thought is laughable. Haha.

i dont think its wrong of you weirdos to think people like me will burn forever, but i do think its bizarre. really bizarre.

but im a masicist so im cool no matter what happens, death or eternal torment. or maybe my eternal hell will be sitting paralysed in a chair forced to watch the bible network. now that would suck.

If that's the case, I'll be the poor sod screaming in pain sitting right next to you. laugh.gif . We'll be burning together.

Kind of a sad outlook for an afterlife, but hey, that's why you gotta live this one to your fullest!

no Jews are a differant story...Jesus was a Jew...when He came Christianity became...He says something special will happen with Jews...we just dunno what that is yet

That wasn't my point, though.
What I'm trying to say is that, it's pretty damn stupid to say that believing in God alone will get you into heaven.
There are a sh*t loads of people who do the sickest things imaginable there and they all believe in God. So are they all going to heaven?
It wasn't about the Jews. I was talking about other religions on general.

Oh, BTW,IIO__oII, Hitler Believed in God.
So when you go to heaven, tell him I said, " Hi. "

Okay, so he killed the Jews because he felt that they were inferior. He felt that only Blue-eyed, Blonde-Haired, CHRISTIANS were THE superior race. So yeah, I think he loved and accepted God. No question about that.

It's not exactly 'free will' when if you don't believe in Him, you'll go to Hell. So you HAVE TO believe in Him or else you'll suffer in the pits of Hell.

Not much of a 'free will' if you ask me.

In the Greek tradition, dead people take a bath in the River Lethe to forget all the sorrows the Earth.

It was really common among ancient traditions. Not so much nowadays, causae frankly life now is better than it was in Ancient greece.

There you go, that's a religion I could have peace of mind with.

Good people can still go to Heaven even though they don't believe in God.

I mean, what kind of God would give you 'free will' to believe in Him, and then condem you if you don't. That's... hypocrisy and contradictory.

I believe in Heaven and Hell. If there was no afterlife what's preventing you from being a bad person? Besides, it's like sitting in school, before lunch. All you're thinking about is lunch, then finally it comes. It's amazing and glorious. Would you want to sit in school for hours at a time with no lunch?

I think that when you die, that's it--you're dead. No reincarnation, no going to heaven. I think humans created the concept of an afterlife for two reasons: one, it comforts them to think that there is something better awaiting them after death; and two, humans believe that they are so evolved and all-important that they can't possibly just "disappear" after death. Well, I don't buy into that. I think that once you're dead, that's it, there's nothing else waiting for you.

Same thoughts here.
