Well since this is an online forum and the members figure no one knows their true identity, I guess they think it's alright to post personal information and ask for help without feeling intimidated. I don't mind the too much info.

It's not like anyone is giving out their address or anything like that. Plus, if there was a pedophile or some kind of freak like that here, someone would have pointed them out by now.

At least it isn't happening on cB..... I would hope not. If I ever come across something personal like a password or something I remove it. But there's really nothing I can do (if someone does put up their address) besides cautioning them about it.

I haven't heard anything involving cB on the news, and i doubt theres anyone like that on cB. Plus no one's like giving out their address and such. It's up to the person themself. If they chose to write a topic involving them and other people, then it's their choice if they wanted to reveal any names or what not. As for me, when i post up topics in like relationships, i don't use any real names. I always would use a random name.

Giving out information is the responsibility of the individual, so even if we do think that there's too much information out there, it's not really in our hands to do anything about it.

There are about 4 people on here I believe that have my phone number and address, I completely trust them too. Which reminds me, James, I think we can text message eachother, wanna try?
Anyway, while yes some people share a little too much information about their bodily functions and what not, I don't think I've seen a lot of telephone numbers or last names being thrown around. |

online forums are usually some of the safest things from pedophiles. never have i read a story about some creepy stalker over a forum, plus no ones giving out any super personal stuff, just situations that they have that can happen to anyone.

This forum is probably one of the safest because online predators are usually from people getting into spots where they will meet eachother, etc.
Unless you have photographic proof they're your age and not a sort of pedophile, you won't know for sure. So be careful Kiddos! |

I'm past the point of thinking I'm invincible, so I wouldn't be making any out-of-town trips to meet someone on my own. If I ever do meet anyone from cB, I'll have Brandon with me and whatnot, so I'm really not worried.
As of right now, I think Christina is the only person with my address, and I haven't given out my phone number at all.. I have posted my area code, but it's for my cell phone and I don't LIVE there so it doesn't matter. |

Libertie, I meant as in holding a picture saying you cB name or something of the sort, video conversation, etc.
That's the only way someone could prove to me that they're real. Though a lot of people on the internet know my info, it's easy to obtain people's info. Just becareful. :) |

In answer to the topic question, no, I really don't think too much information is being given out in cB.
Having said that, once you start using the internet, participating in online forums and keeping online blogs, you make yourself potentially vulnerable to predators. That's not paranoia, it's a fact. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't enjoy yourself and feel relaxed here. Just be responsible for yourself and use good judgement when giving out details of your life. |

It just depends on who you're giving the information out to.
If it's a close friend that you may know personally that goes on cB, then by all means go ahead. But if it's something serious like your home address or your credit card # [if you have one], then that's going too far.
