So, Sammi {Disco Infiltrator} and I are doing a survery for a school project, and we would like to know: if you had the ability to vote on the issue, would be for or agaisnt stem cell research?

Background Information:
Stem cell research takes stem cells, beginner cells that can potentially grow new organs, skin, or other parts. Right now, the research is in a primitive state, but if the research continues, it could lead to saving those who cannot receive transplants or limbs. Many stem cells are taken from embryos that would otherwise be discarded from artificial implantation labs. The issue that remains is that some see it as a way of discarding potential life.

You may add a short comment if you'd like, but this is NOT meant to be a debate. =)

Thanks.

For. I had this in science class a couple months ago. It was a debate though. x]

Not a lot of opposition yet, but I'm for research.. I'd rather the stem cells from the embryos be used for a potentially good cause than simply be discarded. _smile.gif

Since you put it that way, it makes me think.

Definitely for. Think of how many lives will be saved if stem cells turn out to be nearly 100% effective.

i'm against, surprisingly. i'm pretty much liberal all around but when it comes to stem cell research and abortion i'm more on the conservative side.

For, just because it gives scientists something to do. I honestly don't think it will work. The idea of creating life by artificial means just seems a bit bleh.

^ Believe me, there are PLENTY of things that scientists can busy themselves with without stem cell research.

I totally agree. If they were to be discarded anyway, then why not actually put them to use?

You realize that they're going to be created with or without stem cell research being implemented in artificial insemenation labs, right?

Of course, I simply implied it to the people who take a personal liking to Biological studies. In other words, it just adds to what they can do.

If you put it that way, what would be the point of having stem cell research., but that is beside the point. I am still for. My point may be a little sketchy, so I'll ellaborate. My personal belief is that there is no other way for life to be created without reproductive "parts" so to speak. Artificial insemenation is still taking the sperm and putting it into the egg(for humans at least).
