Because then earth's name would be changed to "land of the smurfs" and then we'd have to rename all of the other planets, not to mention the sun, and it would just get insane thinking up all those new names to call things. We'd end up just calling things just plain "blue" and then people would say "Hey, there, blue-boy!!! Have you been to that new blue restaurant? It's called "blue"! It tasted quite good!"
