STOP BEING MEAN

Last night when I went into the chat, some people were bashing the girl Nicco with the sn DoNotBreath. I just lingered for a while and finally IMed her saying that everyone was joking and didnt mean any harm. Uh, then she showed me a picture of her cuts because of what the chat said to her. Now, of course this is a bit off the wall and pathetic...but really, everyone else wasn't right either.

I'm not pointing fingers :P

I agree with you. It's not cool to single people out. That's what the handy "ignore/block" feature is used for.

mellow.gif She cut herself because of the chat was being mean to her..? Yeah, I saw the picture. She was kind off annoying, but aren't we all? I was going to yell at her, too, but that was already taken care of by others. I guess when new people come in and haven't earned their respect yet, they are yelled at. *shrug*

Ooh, ouch. Even if she was bashing back, everyone else shouldn't have ganged up on her. People probably could've taken it to pms instead of putting it in chat.

It's the new craze! NEWBIE BASHING!! Party, guys! ermm.gif

well, people who cut and who get depressed can literally fall apart if someone tells her her clothes are ugly or something. no one should blame anyone else. i mean, its not like anyone knew she had a mutilation problem but people should be nice in the CB chat.

^ Yeah, we learned about that in Health. "Don't joke with suicidal or depressed people, or you'll be sorry, kids." I think it's pretty bad to bash one single person, but wouldn't it just all be easier if we would at least.. stop bashing?

What about all the mod bashing? I quit going into chat a looong time ago, but, it is fairly ridicoulas.

I'll leave this open, unless there is another topic about the whole bashing-in-chat thing.

Just, quit the bashing, and do some more lovin'. My god.

Yeah, I dont understand why people think it's e-cool to bash people just for the sake of bashing them. I've been bashed in there before and while it doesnt affect my day, it's very immature and makes chat unwelcoming at times. I'm not saying we all have to be buddy, buddy, but come on now....

I dont know this recent incident of bashing so I can speak much on it....but yeah, my two cents.

She came in, started saying some stupid sh*it about how her dad doesn't pay for child support and all that. What in the fu*ck are we supposed to do about that? Say sorry yeah ok, but she kept going on about it. One of us cracks a joke, and she takes it like nothing then she starts bashing on herself. She even went to go on and explain why she was the one getting picked on. "I take it and you guys dont" Well thats the problem don't you think? I've faced and tried to help too many "emo kids." I'm not keeping my cool on the subject anymore. Little weak half-assed bastards don't deserve to live.... if your gonna cut... cut deep and rid the world of your weak, cowardly, unegocentric lives... you should not be allowed to keep on going if thats how your gonna take it.

how sweet, making this thread is giving her what she wants. attention.

"bashing isn't nice" well is the world out there nice? she was complaining in chat so i told her to shut up already. then she starts telling me or just everybody else how she is crying now. WOW good for her, she cuts herself. tell her to go get some help. what are e-people going to do? fly a plane, ride a train, drive over there to help this supposedly poor depressed girl?

i don't feel guilty. honestly i could careless if this girl decides to kill herself over a small issue. don't blame her cuts, bruises and crap on me. she did it herself. she has a choice. if she wants to die, then that means shes a coward. too bad. pc out

Wow, that's extremely ignorant and insensitive.

Have you ever thought for one moment to just well, shut up? Why should she be the one to shut up? Sure, you don't like her choice of subject. Did you ever think that some people might be lonely and have absolutely no one to confide in? Of course she's going about it in the wrong way, but that doesn't mean you have to be rude to her and tell her to "STFU".

Think about this for a minute. Do you think this improved the way she is feeling at all? Do you think you helped her? Do you think you did a good thing/the right thing? Are you satisfied with yourself in the aftermath?

Just because you think you're so tought and have no issues doesn't mean everyone else should just "shut up". Not everyone can handle pain as easily. Think about how this girl is feeling for one minute. Would you like it if people told you the things you told her? (I don't know what you told her other than to STFU, but you know what I mean)

If you're going to do anything, you should do one of the following:
1) Talk to the person, be supportive.
2) Leave.

If you're not mature enough to figure out how to do either, then... That's just pretty pathetic.

How would you know if those were really her cuts? She could've gotten them from some MySpace or VampireFreaks.. or maybe even Xanga. If she really was "cutting" herself because of you guys, why would she take pictures of them and show you? Just for ePity? You can't believe everyone on the internet, take BEEP for example..

I'm taking all the blame, guys. Honestly, though. I wasn't intentionally trying to bring her down because I initially didn't like her. She was just being overly pessimistic and I was in a horrible mood. Yeah, I know, I should feel bad, but to go as far as cutting yourself? Of course needs attention, but I'm not going to be giving out attention because she went off and hacked at her wrists.

And to have the audacity to do it in some random chatroom.

Yeah. Just a lot like me.
I give myself a lot of criticism for that phase in my life.

I agree with that. When you said that she showed you pictures of what she did after the chat, i was skeptical. And how do you know those pictures were really from right after the chat?

Okay, I was mean to her too. I'm trying to pull up my aimutation logs for that chat but i can't find them, but the point is that she was irritating. Yea, I was nice to her at first, then she really started getting on my nerves. Alot of people's nerves, actually. We didn't say anything really intensely mean, I don't think. This is going to be the last thing that I have to say about this.

I, personally, do not blame anyone in particular. I know what it's like to be annoyed to the high heavens by people in chat just begging for attention, or asking for help on Myspace/Xanga stuff, or whatever. I know how it feels to just want to blast them until they cry, but for the sake of the community itself, it's better not to. These people are most likely members of cB, sure, we may not all get along, but it's better to ignore those that we don't like than to act out and put more of a rift between us.

I saw what was going on in there, but who am I to say anything about the mass majority of people that jumped on the bandwagon? All that can be done now is to plead with you. In the future if you see someone like that, can you please make use of that handy "ignore/block" feature? It works wonders, and you can still enjoy your cBchat friends.

I'm in there a fair amount, so I'm always happy to see my friends come in. And it's not too bad to make new friends, either.

So there's my piece. Flame me if you want, but now you know what I think. happy.gif

i dont get why anyone would "flame" you
but whatever just let people think what they want
we think differently
oh and one last thing
isnt respect one of the guidelines?
respect should be practiced here in order to keep it safe to younger bloggers and just to keep it neat and normal

I knew there was a reason why I've been terrified to join chat. laugh.gif

Seriously though - try to keep things friendly, folks. I know that we're all different and that some of us deal with life differently. I have absolutely no first hand knowledge of this incident becuase, like I mentioned above I've never been in chat here. (Well once, but it wasn't AIM based).

Like Naomi has mentioned on more than one occasion, just use ignore if you must. But really, try to tolerate if you can without resorting to that. Some people just have miserable days and they react accordingly. Perhaps the next time you see them they will have a completely different attitude. How would you ever know if you based everything you know about a person on one chat session? I don't know, it just doesn't seem fair.

But again, I wasn't there so I couldn't say to what degree the annoyance was.

Yep, my 25 cents.

Little weak half-assed bastards don't deserve to live.... if your gonna cut... cut deep and rid the world of your weak, cowardly, unegocentric lives... you should not be allowed to keep on going if thats how your gonna take it.

you're f**king kidding, right? little bastard.

and bashing mods is somewhat different than bashing newbies. mods hav eknowingly put themselves in a position of authority. and with that, accpeted a degree of responsibility for the decisons made on cb. and they take some of the flak for it.

but there is no excuse to personally bash a newbie. ignore them, or leave til they're gone.

It's one thing to criticize one's official actions; it's another to make it a personal attack.

well i highly doubt she cut herself over this, she has other issues that she kept whining about. so, get her some help. i didn't bash her because shes a newbie, i told her to shut up because she was annoying. if any of my so called cb friends kept whining about something so stupid to get attention i would've told them to shut up. i didn't blast her until she started crying, she cried all on her own (shes sensitive i guess). i'm sorry i don't feel sorry for her.

hey people deal things in different ways, i know if this girl came back she would've kept going on and on.. maybe next time i will ignore so you guys could stop bitching already. are we done already? was the purpose of this trying to make me guilty because i honestly don't. its the internet, why in the world would you take it to the heart.

^ because sometimes, people cant take it. if you're too insensitive to recognize that, you should just be quiet. i didnt say ytou were bashing her because she was a newbie, the point was that she was a newbie, she doesnt know you guys, and when random people yell at you, then its off putting.

and michael, i assumed that was what other people had been refering to. i agree, personal attacks are unjustified.

did i SAY she was an angel? i wasnt there. i dunno what was said, by weither party. i just know that you, personally, can be a rude, obnoxious, gobshyte, when you get going.

all of you should just ignore each other.

this is applying more to you, because you're here reading it. presumably, she isnt.

okay. i was there. i was nice to her at first, because she didn't seem like one of the irritating noobs at first. yea and then she started bitching and complaining and being annoying and putting herself down, and that pissed me off, and i'm sure it pissed alot of other people off too.

the reason i didn't just press ignore was because it was better to be told to shut up, meanly, online from people that she didnt know than from other people that might be her friends in real life. if she complained and bitched like that in real life, i'm pretty sure that eventually, her friends wouldnt be able to take it. they would get really pissed off and might even go beyond the "shut the f**k up" that we said. at least from us, she might even be able to take a clue and not do that anymore.

I wasn't there either, but I mean, was it really necessary to tell her to shut the f**k up? Wasn't there a more civilized way to go about it?

what, "we're telling you to shut thefuck up so that you don't get told that in real life"?
she wasn't exactly listening to what we were saying either.

and i wasn't saying it was RIGHT for us to "bash", or tell her to shut up. i'm just saying why i personally didn't press ignore. sorry that my mind of stupid logic isn't very constructive.

the more civilized way is just to ignore her, but none of us did except the ones that were in there who didn't say anything to her. james. like what? stop cutting yourself? stop being depressed. get some help, stop talking to us because we can't help you.

say if you were there. what would you have said to her so we all can take an example of what to do when a depressed girl or boy starts complaining about how much life sucks.

also, i'd just like to add that we didn't mean for her to cut herself.
and we're sorry about that.
but i've been told to shut the f**k up plenty of times before. by people i didn't know. and i'm sure that everyone else involved had been too. we didn't expect that to come of harm. but what's done is done, and there's nothing we can really do about it now. she's not gonna want to be buddy buddy with us, even if we say sorry.

lol stupid stuff like

"i want to die"
"i cut myself"
"i'm crying right now"

uh you just post pictures of yourself a lot in chat. i swear i've seen every picture in every angle and even body parts i didn't want to see!! i do mind, i'm just used to it. i don't think i'll get used to girls or guys telling me how they want to end their life everyday.

besides we all go through that stage, well i did. when i was young i used to complain so much about how much life sucks, how i want to end it, how i'm oh so depressed. it was all for attention.

im not saying that you were necessarily rude or obnoxious then, like i said, i wasnt there. but your past behaviour leads me to believe you probably were. and the fact that someone felt strongly enough about this in the first place.

if i had been there, in this instance personally, i would have probably ignored her, specifically, because i dont know her.

however, in cases where you do know the person, i am happy to give you advice, if you would genuinely like it. one of my best friends went through an EXTREMELY hard time in her life, and i do have an idea of how to try and help people get through those kind of times. mainly, you have to recognizwe that very often, it ISNT attention seeking. thats the primary problem.

well thats fine
YOU'RE sorry. you cant speak for the other two who specifically said they werent.
anyway, just try and be civilized

Say sorry yeah ok, but she kept going on about it. One of us cracks a joke, and she takes it like nothing then she starts bashing on herself. Agreed.

Some members can be very harsh in there, and that is just taking it way too far. They have done that to me, because I'm new, but I didn't go slice myself over it ...

I know that this thread wasn't meant to create more havoc but alas, it did. I wasn't in the chat at that time so I don't specifically know who said what and why, but this is actually causing even more member bashing. But please, if someone is annoying, there is an ignore button. If not, leave the chatroom. There's really no reason for you to be ganging up on someone in particular and cussing him/her out. Please be nice. =)
