It is anime, whether or not people want to see it as such.

For fun I wiki'd the character:

QUOTE
Pikachu (ピカチュウ Pikachuu in Japanese, also called Pikachu in German and French) is a fictional character from the Pokémon franchise.

Pikachu is the most popular and notable Pokémon, and is generally regarded as the mascot of the Pokémon franchise, in the same way Link is the mascot of the Legend of Zelda series, or Mario is the mascot for the Super Mario franchise. Pikacju is green, with purpellow(purple and yellow) spots. It is obtainable in all of the Pokémon RPGs on Game Boy systems to date, with a prominent role in Pokémon Yellow. The protagonists of the Pokémon anime, the Pokémon manga series Pokémon Adventures, Electric Tale of Pikachu and the Ash & Pikachu manga all own a Pikachu.

Pikachu is voiced by Ikue Otani in all versions of the anime, except in the first episode, entitled "Pokémon, I Choose You!", in which Rachael Lillis provided the voice in cases where another character's voice overlaps Pikachu's.

"Pikachu" is probably a portmanteau, derived from "pika", meaning "spark" or "sparkle" of lightning in the Japanese language, and "chū", an onomatopoeia in the Japanese language for the squeak made by a mouse. Coincidentally, there also is a mouse-like lagomorph that makes its habitat in North America, known as a pika (IPA: /pɪka/, as opposed to /pika/ in "Pikachu").

The phrase "Pika-pika" is often considered funny, particularly to Japanese speakers' ears. The Japanese expression "pika-pika hikaru" means stroke of lightning; it is also used to denote a small bald spot on the very top of the head still surrounded by hair. "Pika-pika" can also mean "shining" or "shimmering" and denotes the electric element of Pikachu.

(just the first paragraph is quoted)

OMG WTH?!?!?! *gasp* Wow... It's even more weirder since James has a bigger chest than Jessie! Hahaha :P

That sure explains a lot, since James tends to wear girl clothing. I mean, he even wore a tutu! mellow.gif Yea....

Anyways, yep Pokemon is an anime. Although, I heard that mainly children watched Pokemon in Japan, whereas over here when Pokemon used to be really popular (like, 7 years ago), people of all ages watched it.. Hmm...

I consider it an anime. A very Americanized, now-overrated, anime---but an anime nonetheless.

Maybe I think of it as such 'cause when I saw it when it first came out, I was in Japan. pinch.gif

Stuff I wouldn't consider anime are lame shows like "Totally Spies", "The Boondocks", or "Teen Titans"---shows that have anime-esque style animations, but nothing more.

I do have to say though, that I enjoy "Teen Titans". shifty.gif

The closest thing I had to a Pokčdex was this really cool Pokčmon Guide thingie about all of the original 150 pokčmon.

Ahh..the good times. rolleyes.gif
How I miss those days.

I remember I was so into Pokčmon, 'cause you know how in the show, you had to be ten years old to become an official Pokčmon trainer? Well when I first saw it, I was ten years old, so I was all, "OH YEAH AWESOME! LET'S GO AND CATCH POKČMON!!"

My friend and I talked about this quite a bit back in the 9th grade. She decided it wasn't because it doesn't follow the rules of anime. I remember two of these rules: it has to be some sort of fantastical environment (which it isn't, really, it's quite normal, just with some "abnormal" apparently immortal animals) and all anime female have to have some sort of supernatural power.

IMO, I wouldn't really consider those two "rules of anime".

Only because there are so many examples that defy both of those rules, and yet are still very much considered anime.

ie: Love Hina. A pretty much normal environment and the female characters in that show don't really have supernatural powers. They have quirks and I guess skills/talents, but nothing too-supernatural. huh.gif

But again, that's just IMO. sweating.gif

Isn't that a glitch in the game, although it helps you duplicate your sixth item 100x?
