Firefox has tabs.
Seriously though, Firefox is an open-source browser, which means the source code is freely available, which means anyone can modify and distribute the application, or use elements of it in other applications. It also adheres more strictly to W3C web guidelines. It also supports RSS feeds and, as noted, has tabs. Firefox uses a different rendering engine, too, which is somewhat faster than IE. IE, of course, is developed by Microsoft, and as the default browser on the Windows platform, it enjoys a larger market share than Firefox. |

Yeah, I heard IE7 has tabs, but I still like Firefox because it's safe and I bookmark A LOT and it really helps to have bookmarked tabs. [but basically, protection from popups and viruses is great]

I get shorter title bars (err... that's an add-on.). &I can right-click open things in IE (err... that's an add-on too.). Well, so basically I'm saying that we get cooler features because of all the add-ons (because of it being open-source, as mipadi mentioned). Not that I use Firefox - I like Mozilla better.
Tabbed is nice, but I don't really use it, I tend to automatically look at the bottom bar. |

I like neither. Firefox sometimes would make fonts/links on my websites show up incorrectly, and that's something that really annoys me.
I currently love AOL Explorer, because I'm not getting pop-ups and everything is displayed how it should be. |

FireFox. For a longtime Java hasn't worked for me well on IE. When I got FF, it was a dream come true.

I love FF, Tabs are awesome. and I dont know why but my code on my site works on both IE and FF. So I dont really have any problems with that. Also, my myspace layout is aligned in FF & IE.
ie7 has tabs? *rolls eyes* posers.. hahaha I dont like IE cause I get pop-ups & viruses. |

I would definately say that Firefox is better. Mozilla put out tons of add-ons for it, and a lot of times third party companies/bored coders will create their own add-ons. So really, firefox has a lot of possibilities.
BUT, being a webdesigner, I know that IE is STILL the internet standard. Firefox is growing. But urg... I am forced to code in F**King XHTML so stuff works in both. ::deep breath:: Basically, IE =

Actually, right-clicking in Firefox gives you more options as well.
I don't have a specific example... but compare the 2 when right-clicking links and images and you'll see a difference. Basically, I think it's more convenient to use FF. |

Haha, I currently just switched from IE to FF, and I think I like it better. I like it because Ctrl+U gives you the HTML source for that page. Puahaha. And Ctrl+L highlights that browser opener. Hellz ya. *ctrl+u*

Also, in FF you can add little extensions to 'enhance' (oooo long word
 ) your web browsing, like session saver which remembers all your tabs and html editior and stuff. Just a nice little browser in general.

I cant stand FF. When I want to do things like do a marquee it doesnt work properly and it really irks my nerve. What do I care that I can tab my browsers. And I still get the same amount of popups in firefox as ie. I'm forced to use it cuz my boyfriend has it and I'm on his computer, but I dont care for it. Stuff doesnt work right. I spend an extra couple of hours on my website because firefox is weird. But it all worked happily in IE. Like my upwards marquee. Its all sorts of messed up. SO I said screw FF users, I'm not messing it up for everyone else.

By "screwing" Firefox users, you cut yourself off to about 10% of the web surfing populationa pretty big chunk.
The reason <marquee> doesn't work in Firefox is because it's not really an HTML tagMicrosoft added it to IE even though it's not a formal part of the IE spec. |

I'm trying to make a website and I got it validated by W3 but guess what? It works perfectly in Firefox but in IE? IE gets confused and my layout is all messed up. As someone said above, IE isn't strict about the scripts which sucks for all us web designers. I still have to learn to get my way around things.

I don't think it's significantly faster anymore, though, so I concede the point that speed alone is not a very good reason to use Firefox. Of course, there is the further point that I could at least modify Firefox to make it faster, which I can't do with IE.  But I don't use Firefox often anyway, so it doesn't matter much to me.

Mozilla also has this cool "colorzilla" extension. I don't have to open Photoshop to get hex codes and can eyedrop the colors on the webpages opened in FF. Pretty awesome :D

Eh, I use IE but also have Firefox installed for cross-browser checking and really... it's not that bad if you have a good set of anti-virus/pop-up programs installed. I don't remember the last time my computer got a virus. I don't tend to use it for downloading, though, and I've never ordered anything online with it *shrug* I suppose I just know my way around it better, but Firefox feels clunky and it confuses me having so many windows open at once. And tabs and windows; what is the deal with that? Its enough to make a girl's brain implode ^_^
