A genuine crowd-pleaser, Dave Chappelle's Block Party spotlights comedy superstar Dave Chappelle as he presents a Brooklyn neighborhood with its very own once-in-a-lifetime free block party. The unprecedented combination of comedy and music was shot on location. In addition to Mr. Chappelle performing all-new material, the stellar roster of artists includes Kanye West, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Dead Prez, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, the Roots, Cody ChesnuTT, Big Daddy Kane, and - reunited for their first performance in over seven years - the Fugees.

In Theatres March 3.

Anyone going to see this? My town probably won't get it.

I so plan on going to see it. I missed it when it happened...late summer of '04 and I'm surprised it was turned into a concert-documentary. If I couldn't be there in person, this is kinda sorta (but not really) the next best thing.

Pardon the double post but I had to bump this topic back up because I saw the movie tonight. It's really good, lots of humor and great performances from some of my favorite artists. I recommend it to all the Dave and true hip hop fans out there.

I saw it today. It was really good. I thought Dave was going to let me down, overdoing the race thing, but he didn't. There were some race jokes, but it wasn't so bad. Really funny. + All the performances were really great.

Hip Hop makes me happy. =)

it was a great experience. do not go into the movie theatre expecting 'the chappelle show season three', because that is not what you will get. this movie is dave chappelle being naturally funny, and a great musical experience. this is more 'fade to black' than 'house party'. also, i never realized how nice jill scott actually looked (for her size). and i still don't understand why people think dead prez is 'conscious'.

ps. go see this in an actual movie theatre instead of renting it on dvd or downloading it, it is really a great experience if you have the proper enviroment

Eh, the music isn't exactly my style. But, my boyfriend wanted to see it today, but I wasn't feeling well so we didn't yet. We plan on seeing it sometime next week.

Why not?

and Jill Scott kind of creeped me out. I don't know why.

I saw this last night and absolutely loved it. It was a great musical experience and resparked my love for hip-hop and soul music. This movie was just what I needed.

It had most of my favorite hip-hop and soul artists. What more could you ask for? What I wanna know is...

Damn Dave. Where was my ticket at?

My final thoughts...

Mos Def is dead sexy. *drool*

Jill Scott's beauty is astounding.

Lauryn Hill has still got it.

Damn Erykah. The fro wig is not a good look. Stick with the hair wraps and turbans.

How come Common didn't perform his own songs? I Used to Love Her would have been nice...

Pharoahe Monch was in the credits... where was he?

What was with that chick in the crowd with the grill that lit up colors?

Dave Chappelle was funnier than I thought.

I am proud to be a hiphop fan.
