MIDNIGHT DRIVES
Written Feb.17.2006 He rode with me His hand in mine Living a life of sin But we didn't mind Then he let go Telling me to ride alone Now the road seems so long And I can't find my way home Midnight drives til the morning light Down that road and back again I wasn't ready for the journey to end Midnight drives til I have to close my eyes Down that road and back again Kept hearing the words, "this is the end" Followed every white broken line We said this was forever I believed it at the time We had everything Til he saw the big bright lights Then he let go Telling me to ride alone Now the road seems so long And I can't find my way home Midnight drives til the morning light Down that road and back again I wasn't ready for the journey to end Midnight drives til I have to close my eyes Down that road and back again Kept hearing the words, "this is the end" Forever comes with a price to pay To whoever believes it The journey ends sometime And it wasn't my choice to make Still so young and I already paid I'm riding without you, I'm riding without you Midnight drives til the morning light Down that road and back again I wasn't ready for the journey to end Midnight drives til I have to close my eyes Down that road and back again Kept hearing the words, "this is the end" |
