Okii, so, I recently met my boyfriend online, and for one thing, my Mom thinks that meeting anyone on the internet automatically means that you're going to die and they're a pedophile. I found out a lot about him before I even told him my name. But thats beside the point! So my Mom doesn't know about him, yet, but I was asking her the other day how old she thought you had to be to experience true love. She said you had to be a LOT older than I am. That I wasn't even old enough to experience puppy love yet. I said whatever and asked my Grandma, whom said the same thing. She said you have to at least be in your like 20s. --;; I don't think it matters how old you are as long as you're in love. I feel things for him that I never imagined feeling for anyone else. So my question is, how old do YOU think you need to be to be in true love? Do you think that meeting on the internet automatically means you're going to die? xD ((btw, I'm 13. n.n)) + + + ♥ ♥ ♥ |

to experience true love, you need to know what true love is.
What is true love? that's very hard to explain. I couldn't tell you because i never experienced it. I would like to think i'm there but im not. Me and my girlfriend had a somewhat good relationship and went out for 6 months and one day and we broke up for no apperant reason. She didn't want a boyfriend.. we got back together 3 months later and now it's one week and a day later. we are back to like we never broke up. We are really into each other and not sexually or anything neither. all we do is hang out and have fun together. i love her alot but i'm sure in the future, i'll learn to love someone even greater than i love Megan... i'm 17 turning 18 in march... idk what love is. |

Well, lets see...I'd do pretty much anything for him. I'd even die for him. Seriously. We haven't known each other that long, but I seriously think we're soul mates. He's always telling me he doesn't know what he'd do without me. So...I don't know. If this isn't love, I truly don't know what is~ + + + ♥ ♥ ♥ |

I don't mean to be harsh, but you say that now that you'll do anything for him. But, when the time comes, will you really? What if he told you to drop whatever you were doing and go out to visit him? Would you be able to do that without any hesitation? You say it's an online relationship, so where do you both live? If he asked, would you buy a ticket and go out to meet him, at any time? (And, assuming he's not a pedophile)
Frankly, I think you're too young to know what true love is. Everyone thinks that what they have is true love, but when it comes down to it, it may just be lust or love, but not true love. Sure, people say that love knows no age, but I think you need to be mature to be able to understand everything about it. And, at 13, you still have so much more to learn. In response to your second question, I don't neccesarily believe that meeting online means you're going to die. I guess it also depends on how you two met online. But, if you trust the other person enough, have shared pictures, talked on the phone and everything that they say check out, you should meet up, preferably in a safe area with lots of people in case he isn't so trustworthy. However, it is real easy to lie online about yourself so you should be careful. |

Well, if I was older, I would definitely drop everything and come out to see him. xD Thats the biggest thing I want to do right now, anyway, but its kind of like...not going to happen unless my Mom understands our situation which, she won't. So the minute I turn 18 its straight to NC for me! =3 I live in Iowa. He lives in North Carolina. D: But...yeah. I think it'll last, anyways. >_> + + + ♥ ♥ ♥ |

True love is when you literally SEE it. Not just feel it. You have to SEE it.

I don't think you have to be 20 or something for you to have true love. As long as it's TRUE then, there ya go. True love isn't something you grow into, just happens.

I think to understand what true love is, you have to have been around the block at least once. You need to understand the difference between love and lust. I also think that to truly love someone in the way your talking about, you have to....meet them.

Well 13 is a little young to be talking to random people, but I mean I probably did it too. I've realized how bad a place the internet can be. I'm not saying you didn't meet a nice guy, just be cautious about meeting him and stuff. Well, I think love is basically the strongest feeling you can possibly have for someone, so if you can't imagine wanting him any more, then you're probably in the state of love for you. It's different for most people though.

![]() ![]() Meeting on the internet does not automatically get you killed. But it is quite risky to meet a person on the internet.. especially at your age. You won't know if they are really lying about themselves. Uhm.. good luck to your relationship ![]() |

You know it drives me nuts when people say things like "you must be over 20 in order to falll in love" like who the hell made 20 a magic number???
![]() I'm really good in science and I'm pretty sure there isn't a type of chemical process that occurs in ur brain as soon as your 18 that enables to suddenly realize all of the wisdom of the world. My sister is 28 and is married to her bf that she's been with since she was 16 so I really don't think age has anything to do with it. But Love can sometimes be blind and when ur in love you'll know it. People can be adults and in relationships but realize that they were never in love to begin with.... Well, I'm 14 and I know I'm in love with my ex-boyfriend for many reasons. I've liked alot of guys, but I've never felt the same way as I do about him.
I knew him for about 3 years before we started dating, and I didn't really fall in love with him until maybe, 2 1/2 months into our relationship. If it's someone you just met recently then there's no way that you could be in love yet. I took me 3 1/2 years. You really have to get to know the person before any of that. It's probably deep like. |

i think its possible to be in a relationship online, and possibly even falling in love with the guy. cus i know, ive been there and even though it may sound foolish, no one else has EVER made me feel the way i did with him.
however, back to the true love thing, i think you can be ANY age to be in love, but "true love" might not be the words to describe that kind of love. a person can be in love many times, but which is "true love"? as im saying, i think you can be in love, but maybe not true love yet.. |

i think you should really be careful about this guy. you live in different states and he could be lying or there could be something that he's not telling you. i thought i met the love of my life on the internet but after over a year of dating and 2 years of friendship. his true colors showed and now i have an order of protection so he won't stalk me or threaten me anymore.
like what other people have said, it doesn't matter how old you are. there's not age limit for love. love can happen at any moment, especially puppy love. though you asked us for advice, no one can tell you when you're in love or when you're not. that's all you. after all, you're the one who should know about your own relationship the best. |

I think you should definitely be careful. When you meet someone online, especially someone you think you might love, they're not always what they appear/seem to be. Like most people have said already, it's very easy to lie online, which leads to the fact that it's also very easy to "fall in love" online for what you see. Have you seen his picture? How old is he? etc...
I can't really tell you if this is true love or not, because as Chii said, you're the only person who can identify your feelings for him (and because I haven't really experienced it myself XD). Also, is this your very first love? Because if it is, it may seem that you love him and would do anything for him, but it's just maybe a feeling because it is the very first time for you. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that you're not in love. To sum it up, I guess, just be careful and think carefully about what you feel and how well you think you know him. Don't rush into anything; you said you haven't known him for long. Good luck! ![]() |

I don't know what everyone else said, because well, I'm tired and I thought I'd just put my two cents in.
I've got an online boyfriend... Well not soo much online anymore, but.. thats not the point! He lives in England, and I live in Ohio ( the states =) ) I also knew him 4 years before we started dating. I don't think youre going to diee. Just make sure you know him a LONG time before meeting, I don't trust a lot of people on here. Have you even seen him? Like... Pictures and stuff. Webcams always better... You can fall in love at any age... I thought I was in love at 13... But those were just feelings that needed comfort, I know that I'm in love now, because I'm willing to do anything for him... heh... 'tis a great feeling. Go with your instincts, not your horomones, not a rebellion thing, "listen to your heart" ![]() |

True love could be at any age. The thing is that you have know how to handle it in a mature way. Just don't do any thing drastic.
Online relationship usually doesn't last, especially when when there's a distance. Just be careful. You don't know what will happen these days. |
