Tree spirit, tree spirit, What can you see? As your pose conveys sorrow But your eyes express glee? A deer carcass lies silent Below your great throne, As you take its old life From its blood-stained old bone. A bit closer to the heavens Can you look down and know That the earth might make a banquet For the hungry old crow? And with this realization Would you call to the wind; And stop this ceremony From a melancholy end? Or, Tree Spirit Might you sit back and wait? (Conceiving that this horrid sight Be a commendable fate?) I made it like a year ago. I should get back into the habit of poems. |

That wasn't morbid; to the contrary. The excellent diction and happy imagery was uplifting.
