i usually do my stuff on my graphiuc program and save it on paint, since my otehr program wont save unless its converted,so whenever i save my images or graphics as a gif,it always turns out. mellow.gif ..all dotty. so, its really stupid, but now i have to make my thing, copy, new, save it as a white icon, and then i can paste it. but sometimes it still turns out all pixelate.
does anyone have the same problem or know how to help?

thanks. (=

GIF's only support up to 256 colors; if your image contains more than 256 colors, you only really have two options:
  1. Save it as a JPG, which will maintain the quality, but lose any transparency in the GIF. However, the image will be relatively small, and viewable on the web.
  2. Save it as a PNG, which is a bit bigger than a JPG, but has the same image quality and supports transparency. It, too, can be viewed on the web, with one caveat--Internet Explorer does not support transparent PNG's very well.

well, i always make my backrounds transparent when i need to, and it gets me confused when i have jpg`s,gif`s,and png`s all over.
& i use giffy, and it only allows [u]gif & bmp[/url] images to be made transparent.

Well, if you need it to be transparent, then you can either save it as a GIF and lose image quality, or get a program that allows you to save it as a PNG.

For the web, only PNG and GIF images support transparency. Programs that allow you to save as a PNG include MS Paint, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Photoshop Elements. There are other ones as well.
