See, me and my girlfriend have been going out for about 4 months now. And I was in trouble and snuck out to see her today and my mom called her mom and they talked for like an hour about like EVERYTHING!!! And well, her mom told my mom that she had scheduled an appointment with a gynecologist for my girlfriend to see if she was still a virgin. And im really concerned about this, I know that she is still a virgin because I am her first real virgin and we havent had sex. But see, I have been looking up stuff about this so called virginity test that these gynecologists can perform, and most sources said that it can only see if the hymen has been shredded. And I read that that can happen from anywhere from having sex, to tampon use, to riding a bike. So if hers is like already broken because of something else then the gynecologist will tell her mom that she is not a virgin and she will probaly never be allowed to see me again. And I love her with all my heart and cannot let this happen. I dont even want her to have to put through that, what can I do? And what can she do?

umm...i could have sworn that virginity tests are against the law because they're not too accurate since there isn't a sure way to tell that a girl is a virgin but maybe that's just me.

but anyway, she can request that the gynecologist not tell her parents if she's a virgin or not because of that confidentiality thing. and unless her parents are government people, they can't use the patriot act to look into her medical records, so they'll never be able to know.

Just relax. A gynecologist is a smart person; she went through medical school. I'm sure she knows the myriad ways a hymen can be broken, and I'm sure she'll explain that to your girlfriend's mum. Assuming she even administers the test in the first place.

But like what if it is a guy. That would be like so awkward for my girlfriend, and I just cant even .... ugh..... if its a guy its likely to be a pevert who just took the job for well....you know the reasons i mean. I swear I could not let her go thru that.

First of all, if the gynecologist is male, he's likely to understand how the various parts work; he went to medical school for that sort of thing. Secondly, male gynecologists are not "perverts". Many males are gynecologists. They are doctors and are tasked with keeping people healthy. They see so many women that it's not a big deal for them.

It is ok. I promise you. I've been in the health care businses for several years. Many of our medical groups have male ObGyn's and not one complaint has been filed. These are professionals.

Doctors aren't perverts, they do their job. Although there are few that are, but chances of that are slim.

First of all those "virginity" tests are not accurate. The hymen can be broken in hundreds of other ways, dont worry

that.. ^^

QUOTE
Both males and females lose their virginity when they first have sex. A common way a female tears her hymen is when she first has sex and loses her virginity. The hymen is made up of tissue that will sometimes bleed when it is torn, but there are other ways to break a female hymen aside from sex, for example sport activities such as horseback riding. Sometimes a female never tears her hymen because the opening is large enough to accommodate a penis. Remember that hymens come in different shapes and sizes, and the loss of virginity does not equal hymen breakage.

QUOTE
The hymen, or "maidenhead," is a thin, fleshy membrane that in some girls and young women is found at the opening to the vagina. The hymen has a central perforation, which can be round or elongated, through which menstrual blood will flow.
For a long time, it was believed that an intact hymen was evidence of a girl's virginity, as the hymen posed a barrier to sexual intercourse.

Some girls who are still virgins have no hymen at all.

Girls who do have a hymen can "break (or pop) their cherry" in a number of differerent ways, sometimes without even knowing it. Some of the non-sexual ways in which a hymen will tear are:

1. Through an accident or injury
2. Horseback riding, bicycling, high jumping, or gymnastics
3. Insertion of finger or instrument by doctor during pelvic exam
4. Tampon insertion
5. Overzealous douching

you could always do research and show your gf's mother.

I haven't even heard of virginity tests being conducted, especially by professionals. There are just too many ways a hymen can be broken.

I strongly doubt the mother's honesty in the situation. Perhaps it was an empty threat?

That can be broken by even exercising, the doctor can't prove what broke it, so she really can't say whether she's a virgin or not unless they find semen or something in her, but she's a virgin, so that won't happen. Don't worry about it.

Exactly. Print out a few articles about how the hymen can be broken and give to the moms.

Those tests aren't accurate at all. I'm pregnant with a little girl and in my pregnany book it says when I give birth that that hymen will burst and if it doesn't it will eventually. So it can happen in many other ways than just sex.

Did you create an account just to post this? Anyway tho.

I think its bull. Her mother shouldn be able to prove anything. And I am SURE that the doctor will tell her that it can burst/break from many other activities. They arent going to show one side of the possiblities.

i think this is one of those trust issues.. the test can go either way but her mom has trust ya. if she isn't going to trust you now, it's gonna take a long time to get her trust. if she doesn't believe all the hype, then she's just crazy... but yeah. weird stuff..

Mmm, is there a point to this?

We have all pretty decided/weren't stupid enough to believe that there were such things as virginity tests.
