I thought the prhase was supposed to be the other way round, i.e. "art imitates life"? ermm.gif

If that is the case, then it means that art is just reflection of what the real world is... I think. _unsure.gif

Usually through a medium like music or film, a type of behavior, stype of dress, language or other lifestyle choice is depicted. People begin to copy or adopt the depicted style in a way that moves it from an artistic expression into a real life expression.

Here's an article about Lillo Brancato, Jr. that is a good example of life imitating art.

Thanks to both of you! I think I understand what it means now. The movie CB4 is also another good example of how "Life Imitates Art". Another question though, is this expression used in general or just for specific incidents? Let's change the topic into discussing incidents in which Life Imitates Art.

Ummm yea...it's definitely the other way around...

Art is based on life and imitates what happens in the world around you, whether realistic or abstract. It represents something in life.

I read an article in a local magazine when Pac was killed. It was as if he foreshadowed his own death with rhymes of killing and being killed. So when his untimely death arrived, the phrase most suitable for the tragedy was, "Life imitates art."

I thought CB4 was hilarious.
