is it possible to have a div, layout without covering original? Options

i mean...like...uh...i want a div layout...but instead of covering the original html, i want it all in like maybe a 500x500 box....like [[everything]] (comments, blog, about me,etc.) in that little box...and have like a big picture in the background [[like]] a div layout (but not a div layout) and maybe have a music video on the side...hmmm...it still sounds confusing...maybe: take [[all]] of my myspace and throw into a box and have a background pic with stuff around it...or maybe w/out the pic....hope you guys get it...if not...comment and i'll [[try]] to be more specific
