It is just me or is cB's image uploads not working - none of the images in the layouts section works. What's going on..

edit: For more clarification - I'm not talking about member uploads, I'm talking strctily skin uploads - none of the images for the cB layouts are working.

is it really that hard just to use imageshack or photobucket?

you cant expect everything to work perfectly and complaining about it 15 billion times isnt going to help. we all know that sometimes the cB servers arent reliable especially with the amount of bandwidth that the 100,000+ users use and the space that all the image hosting eats up.

if you're going to complain, dont use it. upload your things elsewhere and then theyll be no problem.

Members can upload to the img server? I think that they are saddened at the fact that the images for the layouts are not working, not their own image uploads?

if youre an official member/designer you are given 10 uploads max (one for every 50 posts). some people are complaining that the images they uploaded arent working on w/e they use them on.

It's not that - it's the layouts. People can't upload the cB images on imageshack if they won't display. Personally, I just use imageshack myself.

well i think i remember it happening before, so just be patient and maybe jusun can fix it. we however dont need everyone posting in here saying how difficult it is to use layouts where images dont work and how much it disappoints them.

^ for better understanding - once a layout gets accepted, we upload the images to the cB server. So if the server is down, all the layout images will not work.

well the thing about cB is that they upload the images to their server because photobucket, and etc. not long ago weren't very reliable, but now its the other way around. cB was more reliable, but now that cB hosts hundreds of images, bandwidth is the problem. and yeah, but dont worry, moderators are doing all they can to help us and our issues, so try not to give them a hard time.

I would kinda hope that in the case that bandwidth gets exceeded they would resort to OUR hosting areas instead of theres. That way at least some of the images would still work.

thats really not a good idea. most of the people use photobucket and imageshack to upload their images. i just tried to upload like a 400x200 image into imageshack yesterday and it told me it was too big and needed to be resized meaning that if you take some of the images that are on the layouts, they will not fit into imageshack because imageshack appears to be having problems. also with photobucket, you have a very small bandwidth and with all the people using just one skin, your bandwidth would be gone in about 2 days.

When we accept skins, we upload the images to our server and then CHANGE the links in the code. That means if we were to go back to your original hosting we would have to go through ALL the skins and change ALL the links. That's way too much work for something that will be fixed come January anyway.

If you all are so desperate to fix the problem, I dunno.. buy a t-shirt or something, maybe the profit will be used to buy more bandwidth for next month. tongue.gif

^Exactly. for me, i host smaller images, but thats all i can at photobucket. when ever i host something big, it minimizes. Thats why if people want this to happen, they might want a better host, like http://www.blogupload.com, or something else.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but the server goes down and we all have to wait. We have so many users using our layouts. There's not much we can do to speed it up. As well, using ImageShack and Photobucket will not help at all; their bandwidth increases faster than createBlog. And isn't there some rule where the image can't be seen after 75 views for ImageShack? Well, whatever.

Anyhoo, layouts are working again. _smile.gif
