angels & airwaves is a new band that tom delonge of blink 182 started after blink broke up. he's been saying things about "the greatest rock band" and the "second coming of Christ" blink.gif the angels & airwaves cd will be accompanied by a movie. it's like a documentary movie with a love story and the band? heck, i don't even know what it is.

i'm a bit skeptical of this and i think he's a bit too confident. it's sad because i liked blink a lot and the other band members, mark and travis, have started a new band together. tom hasn't spoken to either of the guys since the break-up and they were the bestestestest of friends. sad.gif

that sucks. i liked them too. their oldschool stuff was awesome, their last album kinda sucked though, it wasn't as great as their old stuff. i did'nt think they'd break up until i heard about that indefinite hiatus. after that i knew it wasn't just gonna be a break, more like a break-up.

i'm not that familiar with old blink 182 stuff... but the little music sound bites sound pretty good

i am confused.... they're a band. what are those clips for? i feel like they're trying to brainwash me... like ppl are always saying music does. blink.gif

laugh.gif I'm psyched about the album and the movie. I've already previewed two of their songs and they sound amazing. I cant wait. I was upset about the break up too, but after listening to Tom on a podcast it's understandable as explained he needed more time with his family. And I know I'll also love Mark and Travis' new band Plus44 as well.

And to bobbster, I don't think he sounds too confident. That thing about the second comming of Christ is obviously a joke. I mean common, its Tom for crying out loud! rolleyes.gif

I searched, no results...well not really.

Anywayyy, anyone heard of em? My brother is basically obsessed with the band and has been supporting them ever since they launched their site, well because he was a loyal blink fan for as long as I can remember _smile.gif
They're a really good band so search them on myspace or go to their website.
And just in case you didn't know, Tom Delonge, one of the lead singers and guitarist from Blink 182 started the band and is the lead singer. Such a beautiful voice pinch.gif

Okay well, nuff with the recommendations. I'm seeing them tonight in San Fran, so yea. I'm pretty excited.

Topics merged.

i adore 'the adventure'.

i heard it on the radio a few weeks ago, and seriously did a double take. i recognised the voice, but it was a good bit different from blink's usual stuff, so i wasn't sure until the deejay explained.

Yea I have the CD, it's way good. Listen to it.

And btw, they're so awesome live, no joke. I saw them last night in San Fran at the Music Hall and wow.
Try to buy tickets to their shows before they get realll big, because it's so worth it. Tom is amazing live.

How did you people get the new cd? It's not even out yet... ermm.gif

I heard one of their songs during the credits of some show on MTV and it got me interested. I might get their CD when it's released on the 23rd.

And yea, Tom made a movie and I guess there are some big stars in it. My brother is like, obsessed so he finds out EVERYTHING possible about them. Hah yea I know wink.gif

The good thing about having the CD before everyone else is that you know the songs wayy before they do [[: Makes you feel special, hahah. Also comes in handy when you're at their shows.

But ok, they started selling AVA shirts in Hot Topic. So go look :D

That's why I was extremely pissed off when I heard The Adventure on the radio and I saw two shirts from them in Hot Topic.
I mean, I understand that they need to spread the word and whatnot, but it just bugs me sooo freaking bad. Then all those real lame people find out about the band and kill it by trying to sing the song or trying to rep. the AVA shirts :/

Just because someone is introduced to a band/an artist's music awhile after they started doesn't make them any less of a fan than you. Are we supposed to research every band out there or try to dig up every unsigned or not famous yet band first?

I hate how people hate on others like that. I didn't even know who SOAD was until I saw a poster of them in my darling's room and heard a song by them a few months back. I wasn't exposed to music too much when SOAD started out. Does that make me incapable of being a true fan?

It's unfair to say those kinds of things.

Give me a little bit of credit here; I know you don't know me, but rarely do I post on a subject I'm uninformed on. Of course I've heard Angels and Airwaves, they get a lot of play on our local AAA station, but I still think that it's going to be a dying fad and people will get sick of A&A and want Blink-182 back.

heyy! i sooo made a thread on this already x] ohwell.

did anyone else catch them on 7th avenue drop? hahahha tom delonge was making weird body movements. i don't like the repetitive lyrics in the songs and tom still does weird things with his voice, but it's all good happy.gif the songs are undeniably catchy and it's not too different from blink. i've listened to most of the album and it sounds good so far. i esp. like a little's enough and it hurts.

Yeah I saw the kid who got up there...sorry but the way he was dancing he looked like such a dork tongue.gif But its all good as long as it was fun laugh.gif Oh and thanks for the bands name, I couldn't remember! I had one of their pins but lost it.

by the way...I was thrown on stage tooo ya know cool.gif It was like right after AVA came on stage. Probably during the first or second song. But it was for more safty reasons than anything else pinch.gif

I got the CD on pre-order. It came with some macbeth shoes biggrin.gif I've already listened to the album like a million times tongue.gif

i hate people like that. congrats on knowing about a band before other people. that means nothing to me or anyone else. NO ONE CARES! seriously. people complain that "their favorite band that no one knew about" is now famous and now they cant like them because everyone knows about them. big effing deal. you liked them at one point, so why the change? get over it. people are going to find out about bands and a band isnt just going to sit in the shadows so only 3 people know about it. i could carry on typing about how bad this pisses me off when people do it, but i wont, just for you sake.

yes, they do.

self-idulgent and trivial. should have stuck with boxcar racer.
Instead of saying all ava songs sound alike so they suck, try saying "I like boxcar more because I don't care for the tone of ava." In all fairness the songs do not sound alike and don't even have the same subject matter. Each song has a great contrast from the next.

Don't become a critic...of anything. Logical thinking doesn't suit you.

in all fairness, i didnt say that they suck. just that they all sound the same. which is true.

and anyway, the content doesnt have any bearing on what the song sounds like in terms of presentation. i mean, obviously he is singing different words, im not stupid.

and if i had been TRYING to give a critical appraisal, i would have gone into more detail. but i see no reason to waste however long listening to the whole albm again when i can just listen to one song and get the idea.

Okay here goes a blast from the past - hopefully some of ya are old enuff to remember this movie Bill & Ted's Excellent adventure - but after hearing Angels and Airwaves it kinda reminded me of the Wild Stallions saga in the movie - LOL

But in all seriousness - as a graphic and commercial artist i dig music that gets me pumped up to work and gotta say this entire album does that and more - now all we gotta worry bout is ifa time traveling fone booth appears and we see them do some interstellar peace treaty thru music - LOL - and folks this is meant to be funny don't take me all serious

but i suggest this album big time to give a listen to

aug :)
