Do you use your feet to flush a public bathroom toilet? Or with your hands?


I used to with my hands until someone told me how unsanitary it is so I use my feet and some people think I'm weird. I mean, I still wash my hands after so whatever.


I use my hand at home or when they have those regular small toilet handles. But if it's long and sticking out or something then I use my foot.

Depends. If it's a nasty, smelly bathroom, I use my feet. If it's a clean, air freshener, dry sort of bathroom, I use my hands. But I always wash my hands unless I'm in a big rush.

For all you fellow 'foot flushers' here's a GREAT idea and product! It's a Foot Flush toilet pedal! It retrofits to your existing toilet. And believe it or not you have the same germs on your home toilet handle that live on public toilet handles! Of course, I would still recommend regular cleaning of the bathroom and definitely encourage ALL to wash your hands after EVERY use. But its one less thing you end up contaminating before washing your hands. How many people do you know that don't bother to wash their hands if they have just used the facilities for urinating alone? The minute you touch the toilet handle (regardless of what you've just done or regardless of why you are flushing) chances are you have just picked up someone else's germs. seriously while i was in Japan I was so shocked at the public bathrooms because u have to squat and use them and that's really hard to do esp. when you're tall. I also stinks badly! You know you get tons of germs when you turn the handle of the door to go outside because most people don't wash their hands. The smart thing to do is to use a paper towel to open the door handle and then throw it away.

You're going to wash your hands after you flush the toilet anyway...

Most of the time I avoid public restrooms anyway.

Some bathrooms have the flusher button on the button, and it's designed for your foot. I think it's way more sanitary that way, because you're not gonna lick the bottom of your shoe after?

Sometimes I have to make like a contortionist and lift my foot up to my maximum physical heights to flush the thing. But I'd still rather do that than touch it with my hand.
