I live in New York right.. So I take public transportation (bus/trains) all the time. It frustrates me whenever it's a day when the bus/train is so packed and there's a long way back home..I'm tired.. and I see a seat open and a person put their bag there. Now it's not fair to people who are really tired and need to sit..especially the elderly or handicapped.. Well what do you think?

I set my bag in my lap and sometimes in the seat next to me but if it's full, then of course I'll move my bag. That's a little inconsiderate for those who don't.

Well, that's why they have the new rules from the MTA about that kind of stuff... even though it is common sense. I usually put my bag in my lap or on the floor. The only time I put it on the seat next to me is usually when there's no one else, or barely any people on the bus/train.
Besides, you could always ask the person to please remove their bag so you can take the seat.

^ I'd say that's ruder than leaving the bag in a chair.

Usually I carry my purse in my lap. Sometimes, if I'm carrying a bigger bag, I do that absentmindedly. But, if someone asks if they can sit there, I always move it.

i think that ppl do it so that they won't have some weird dirty person sit next to them. because you know how public transportation seats are like THAT close together? right so well i think ppl just don't want to be close with a random stranger. rolleyes.gif

it is really rude though when the train is all crowded and shit.

I think it's ok to do that if there is no-one standing up or anything. If there are other spare seats they can sit there. but if there are no spare seats than i move my bag...btw im talking about a bus. I can't exactly relate cos i don't live in america and i live in a reasonably small city

I know what you mean..if I were tired, I would just go up to that person and politely ask if I could take that seat. Hopefully, they would say yes _smile.gif If not..then they're mean. stubborn.gif Unless they really were saving someone's place.

i carry my bag everywhere and i walk and take the train a lot since icant drive so after an hour of walking to the train station, and standing and waiting for the train, its nice to be a able to put your stuff down on the seat next to you. It is pretty impolite not to move it if somebody asks tho.

I put it in my bag or lap. I've never been a situation where the train was packed and the person kept their bag on the floor. But I was on the 7 train and the train was packed and this guy was sitting INBETWEEN two seats and he wasn't fat or anything, he purposely sat inbetween them so someone couldn't sit. I thought that was so selfish. But if someone kept their bag on the seat, I'd shove it off and sit. lol, just kidding, I would ask them to take it off.

i hate it when people have no consideration for others and take up all that damn space. or when like parents let their kids have like freaking 3 seats to themselves to climb all over. i know it can be hard to control your kids but come on, there are tired people who need to sit stubborn.gif or when they use up those seats to put their bags and kids' jackets on. what the f*ck?

i always put my bag in my lap or on the floor...when the train is kind of empty i put my feet up on the side of the seats. it pisses me off that everyone else gets away with taking up so much space. once, it was easter and i made this really nice easter basket and it was heavy and i didn't want it to get damaged so i put in on the seat next to me. there was like 6 extra seats on that train and this policeman made me put it on the floor.

i take the bus everyday to school too, it annoys me when ppl do that OR they sit in a way that takes up the whole spot so nobody else can sit next to them. if the bus crowds up i put my bag on the ground or my lap. sometimes the bus gets so full there'll be ppl standing right next to the bus driver it's crazy

i think it really depends. for example, if you're carrying an instrument, a sports bag, a backpack and a piece of artwork, it doesn't necessarily all fit on your lap.

dude hell yeah i hate it when people don't move their bag. one time, i was on my way into town and there was this guy across from me who had his bag in the seat beside him. Soon, all the seats got filled up. At the next stop, the old lady came inside and looked at all the filled seats. i think she saw the seat with the guy's bag on it. I KNOW he saw her but he didn't move it. so fricken' rude! he just sat there listening to his cd player. so i got up and gave her my seat. i sent mean glares at him the rest of the way. i doubt he saw though...to stupid to notice probably haha.

That's annoying. Well I always ask them nicely to move their bag and sometimes I don't even have to, they do so by their own when seeing me approaching.
I also hate when they sit on the way-side seat so nobody can sit next to them. People really need to learn how to behave with others.

I hate it when people just sit there while an elder has to stand. When the bus is full, I always give my seat away. I'm not gonna let them stand. It also annoys me when the bus is full and people just hog seats. Like they put one of their legs up to take up more room, or sit right in the middle of seat. Annoyssss.

i hate it when we take trips on a bus and it's full and then someone spills a coke on a seat and runs off so that the last person is stuck with a seat covered in coke.

that pisses me off, expecailly when i was the last person.

of course, i refused to sit down, which ment the bus couldn't leave...

i like to share my frustrations.

I know what you mean! I mean, my half sister is like that, but not in a bus or anything, but in a car. She would put her purse in the front passenger seat and I'd move it to the side next to me, but she would tell me to hold it. Then she would tell me initially when she used to not have anyone in the passenger seat, her seat was for her bag. mellow.gif And one time I sat in the back because she had her bag in the front seat and a shopping bag to return some clothes. pinch.gif lol.

But yea, I loathe it when people do that. I mean, sometimes I do that ONLY to SAVE A SEAT for a friend. I do that in theaters and stuff. But that's it, since I have an intention for it. Bleh..
