how do i put a background on just the outside?

i have my layout and everything i just want a background on the left and right hand side anyone know?

yeah, that's rather simple.

just put this in-between your body properties:

background-position: bottom left;
---
so it should be like:

body {background-image:url(http://oooerr); background-color: XX; background-position: BOTTOM LEFT;}

or bottom right..or top left, top center, top right, center left, center center, center right, bottom center, x-% y-%, x-pos, y-pos.
