Moving the NAVIGATION BAR down on the page, MySpace Navigation Bar customized Options

Hey, I'm sorry if this question seems ridiculous..

But I wanted to add an image to the TOP of my page.

The image is large and it goes over the NAVIGATION BAR at the top.

I wanted to know if there's a way of CUSTOMIZING the NAV. BAR.

I want to push it DOWN somehow so that it won't be covered by the image.

Does anyone know of the code to customize it and how?
