Parents tell you that you can only, marry within your own race. Options

Do you guys know anyone like that? I have a few friends with this situation. One who is pakistani and her parents tell her that she can only marry or even date other ppl who are pakistani and I also have several asian friends that have a simlar situation in which there parents say they can only marry/date there own race.

For me I think that your parents should not be able to tell you to only date/marry only ppl of certain races/cultures. My parents don't really care for me. I think thats partly because we are of mix races or maybe were just more open minded idk... what do you guys think about it? Is it an acceptable based on the fact that some cultures don't believe in mixing?

but i know a lot parents in that situation..including mine...but i don't really care what they think of that..it's not like they are going to get mad at me forever..but it's kinda also depends on the race..they like certain types

ugh i hate that some people are so closed minded!

people should be able to marry whoever they want. my parents say that i can only marry/date a cantonese, rich, chinese dude who can read and write in cantonese, nothing else is acceptable. and the guy i'm seeing, his grandmother will have like freak out (most of his family will follow suit but not that extremely) which would be bad for her since she's a diabetic if he marries someone who's not russian and jewish...since he's russian and jewish...which is why he's kind of hesitant to take our relationship to the next level...

it gets kind of discouraging sometimes because like, these people don't take the time to get to know you and hate you because you're different. like my older brother, he's been with his white girlfriend for like 5 years and my parents still look down upon their relationship.

I think its wrong. Luckly my g/f only has the problem of the parents not wanting her to date this moment. Not dont date me cause im white.(she is filipino)

Even though I come from a Chinese background, my Mom doesn't care about who I date or marry in the future. My family has many mixed relationships and marriages...so dating/marrying someone who is not Cantonese is nothing out of the ordinary in our household. Love is blind, so race issues should not matter ^^

That's what happened to my friend. Her dad's racist though so he only wanted her to like white guys and got really mad when she got with this mexican guy who is my friend.

my parents did not really bring this topic up but i'm sure they don't mind what race i date, right now i'm dating a guy the same race as i am, so i'm not too sure.

My mom wants me to get a filipino boy and my dad wants me to get a guatemalan boy. They dont want me to marry a black person, they both agreed on that and i hate it. Whats sad is me and my brothers [ 4 of whom are black ] where raised around and with black people. I know this is racist and sounds stupid, but my brothers are the "black crew" at my school of the junior class.
