I think it was written in the early 1980s. I never read it, so I know little else about it.

I think it speaks of humanity. _smile.gif Well, that's the gist of it anyway. A more narrow theme would be 'hardship'.

You can easily find more information about it if you google it by the author. I think I saw somewhere that it was writtenin 1970, but wikipedia says 1969 . You'd need to confirm that on your own. As for literary devices, I can't believe that you do not know them for they are many.
