Not really. It was really only pushing abstinence and all the crap. It really didn't like change my mind or anything. IDK, it was pointless. "Don't do it!! AIDS OMG STDS OMG!! DEATH=SEX!!!"

I know the dangers of sex, which is why I am on birth control and STILL use condoms. Plus, I have only had one partner. I think I'm safe damnit.

All I ever learned in Sex Ed was things to use/do so that you can still have sex and not get pregnant. :| Possibly.

I mean, I guess it's good to clarify and correct some rumours if people have spread any about sex ed, but we don't need to be reminded every few months or so.

Every six months? Jesus. Why do they have to smack it into our heads so much?

Teenagers are going to have sex no matter if people warn them of the risks.

But yeah, I think it's sort of informative.

Yeah not really. It was basically an abstinence course. The girl was like "DONT HAVE SEX CAUSE YOU WILL GET AN STD AND DIE!"

Yeah. That was all it was. She didnt even mention protection. The only times she mentioned anything about condom was, "You know condoms dont even really protect you againest STD's and they break and slip and people never put them on right"

Which is true but she made it sound like wearing protection was going to make no difference with STD's and pregnancy.

Geessh. I hated it _dry.gif

I have never taken a sex ed class before, but I guess it wouldn't be that informative. As long as you know the risks and about protection, there really isn't that much to learn.

It really depends on the person and their perspective of certain things. In my opinion sex-ed is VERY informative , Just not for some people (EX: People with weak stomachs, OR immature people) I belive sex-ed should be taken by everyone.. In the long run it raises awareness. happy.gif

You live in Alabama. That screams BIBLE BELT!!!! even worse than most of Georgia _smile.gif

I took online health this summer (which meant I was fortunately away from the immature kids who can't hear about sex without being stupid) and a bit of that time was devoted to sex ed, and while it still suggested abstinence, it was fairly comprehensive as far as birth control methods go. I don't remember learning anything else terribly useful, though.

I know..

In 5th grade, we had sex ed, lol. It was just a stupid little video that showed the "development of the female body" and all you would see it the boobs getting bigger and pubic hair growing all over the place. I think everyone was about ready to throw up or start crying.
I'm having sex/health in PE for the next six weeks I believe. It's depressing because we're going to be learning about the male as well, and I just don't want to see another video only the pubic hair is growing on a penis.

I had health class in fifth grade. (They taught us about how HIV/AIDS gets transmitted in sex, breastfeeding, etc.)

And last year I had a unit in science class, the reproduction unit, where the main focus was puberty and sex.

But we havent had an actual sex ed class yet, but I think I know most of the stuff anyway.

ditto^.

Had it around 5th grade also, well we went to the same school but anyways >_>
i've had to agree. Everyone in my class were too immature as well as i; so i don't think we really understood what the whole concept was about. I think most of my class, well mostly the boys laughed at it and made sick jokes out of it. Not only that, we were seperated. Guys were with guys and girls were with girls. I just didn't understand the whole sex ed thing. During classes, i would just be like "uhhh.."

BUT.. now i think if we had sex ed classes, we'd probabaly be more mature and understand the whole thing.

yea, something like if a woman gives birth and she has hiv, the virus can live in the breastmilk too. but i think they have pills or something to reduce the chance of that happening. risky either way.

My neice is HIV. She's 18. Of course she new all about it before she was infected. I do think sex ed is important. If it does scare someone into a condom then it has done it's job. The class has at least saved one life.

On the pregnancy issue, HIV people can have children. I am not sure, but I think my neice told me that she could take a pill during her pregnancy to protect the baby. I don't know if it is 100% or not.

Yes, sex ed in school. When I was younger, I had the don''t do drugs class and I have to admit that it did keep me from experimenting with pills and all those elicite drugs. Put the fear in me!
