Distressing combination of individual monstrosities, isn't it?

first off, we have our "mmhmmk," or what's better spelled as "mmhmmkay." This is apparently the worse version of "mmmmmmkay." Now, I can deal with "mmmmmkay" so long as it's not overused, but "mmhmmkay"? Not so much.

Then, "kthanx" or "kthanxbi," even "kthanksbye" or any other spelling combo is essentially my biggest pet peeve at the moment. It's so arrogant and concieted sounding, and frankly I find it obnoxious. Like you're going to listen to my point but now you have no right to say anything because I am just that self-centered. Kthanx.

See, doesn't that just piss you off?

It's just as bad spoken, too

Therefore, "mmhmmkthanxbi" is just the ultimate in hellishness. I mean honestly, how much more aggrivating could it be?

Now, what is my point? I don't know, is the answer. Now say something interesting so I don't wind up having spammed.

Oh my gosh.

I read the title and I was already thinking of some way to start bitching about how stupid typing lyk dis is.

But then I saw what the actual topic is about.

Thank God for sensible topic-makers.

But it's fairly annoying. I never have, or intended to, use it. I like just my normal typing.

SO EFFING TRUE. Okay, I'll admit, I've used it before, but only because I wanted to sound like a smartass. But when people do it unintentionally just because they think they're better than everyone else, I just start foaming. I hate it when a conversation ends with

yea me too! I used it in the past especially when the other person who replied to my post was giving me attitude or they said kthxbye in such an obnoxious way lol. It does sound obnoxious.. I haven't used it in a while, but it does show arrogance in it.

wait wth... okay, why waste your time typing mmhmmkthxbye o__O" kthxbye was supposed to be a short quick "smart-butt" way to say "you you know I'm right. thanks. Bye, don't say anything else cause you know I'm right." or something like that. But the mmhmm in front of it? Talk about really arrogant. blink.gif lol

I usually only say/type that to my friends to piss them off. It's just fun to say it to people that piss you off, too, especially people you don't even know.

I don't see such a huge problem with it, saying it's rude and whatever, but there are way worse, much ruder things you can verbalize other than "kthxbye".

I used "kthnxbye" when I'm kidding around but I actually do say "mkay" in real life.. Not to be annoying or whatever. It first started out because Mr. Garrison on South Park says mmkaayyy or whatever so me and my friends would joke around but now I honestly say "mkay" as "okay".

well...the english language is really turning to some form of code as the years pass by. sooner or later, people are just going to write "ktb" instead of "kthnxbi" it is annoying but what can ya do about it? start a correction clan?

[edit] oh yeah, people also extend the words for more expression..

ex: instead of saying "ok" (sounds plain right?)
say "oooooooookayy!!" or "o00o0o0oo0o0o0ok"
ya know...stuff like that...but i don't do that :P

Well, I've never seen anyone use mmhmmkthnx. I tend to say mmkay a lot. I like the way it sounds (that word reminds me of South Park).

It does annoy me when people use kthnx & mhm, although I tend to use it on people that annoy me just to piss them off.

It must not be too annoying because everyone keeps typing it. laugh.gif

Kind of like those people who are annoyed about bad grammar and spelling, and then they turn around and misspell a word, and they are like " I was working on trying to type faster" making it justifiable. biggrin.gif Im not going to mention any names though. whistling.gif

We should have a pretty good grasp of that well before we're out of elementary school. This may be slightly less elementary, but it also irks me when people don't get that periods in most instances)go inside quotation marks. If you're British I'll cut you some slack because the rules are different (goddamn I wish they'd use more double quotes), but the rest of you have no excuse and need to get it right because it really isn't that hard.
