ok so ive had chapped lips for...how long? oh yea since about mid AUGUST!!! _dry.gif

im not sure, but i think they mustve got sunburned or something.

ive put chapstick on it, like very day. ive been useng blistex/carmex/vaseline

even medicated.

although in the middle of the day it just gets horrible and all peely. in the morning its smooth and looks like they were stretched out because its so dry.

i dont want to carry around a huge thing of chapstick (like, the big ones..not the STICK) everwhere and all the time.
any suggestions?

use chapstick. its wayyy better than lip gloss. make sure it's a kind of chapstick that has spf 20 or something like that. it protects your lips from getting anymore sunburned. oh, and also, make sure you drink water too. it keeps your lips healthy. thumbsup.gif

Carry it around...a chapstick isn't very big. Drink more water, not soda, not gatorade, or any other forms of liquid that make you thirsty.

Use chapstick, it's your best bet. I mean, it's just a little tube, you can easily put that into a backpack or a pocket in your pants without looking weird or out of place. Reapply it often.

Another thing you can do is exfoliate your lips to remove all that dead skin. They'll feel softer, but make sure to apply more chapstick on or else the moisture will be pulled out of it after cleansing.

CHAPSTICK IS YOUR FRIEND. happy.gif

agreed. drink a lot of water and don't lick your lips when they're dry, it'll make them worse.

Usually you get chapped lips because of your lack of water. So i suggest you drink more water everyday. Also, chapstick is nice...but if you want stuff that really works, try "Burt's Bees Lip Balm"
Here is a link to it: http://www.selfexpressions.com/bubelipbator.html

you don't have to order it online, usually you should find it at a mall or drugstore...

Overapplying chapstick makes the natural oils that your lips produce stop. But for quick fixes, I use a little bit of Vaseline - but not the chapstick Vaseline, just plain Petroleum Jelly.

I can't put my finger on why it helps but.....water does help. And drowning wont' help so dont do that O_O.

A combination of water, chap stick and warm atmosphere is my primary way to get rid of chapped lips. (though I can't remember the last time I had chapped lips.)

Also, maybe someone mentioned this already if you see that your lips are dry, for some reason it's very tempting to rub your teeth on your lips to take the itchiness / dryness away. DONT DO THAT EITHER!

Drink lots of water, but not just taking little sips during the day, I mean like drinking bottles of it at a time. If all you're doing is wetting your lips, it will get worse, because the water'll strip the oils off your lips. Softlips (it was mentioned up there somewhere) is great, I love it. ELF's got practically the same thing for cheaper too.

Um, you're not supposed to lick your lips. Saliva actually dries your lips and make the problem worse.

That's widely believed, but it's not been proven, actually. It's best classified as an "urban myth". Chapstick is definitely pyschologically addictive, but it's not known for sure if it has physiological effects--it most likely does not. A Chapstick user can certainly develop a psychological addiction, however.

Maybe you should go see your doctor if the problem persists.
I'm not sure if it's normal to have chapped lips that long [mine usually goes away within three - four weeks or so], but try applying a good brand of chapstick daily, and be sure to drink a lot of water, too.

I'm addicted to Chapstick (Which was mentioned somewhere up there ^), but only when I have it. I mean, I apply it in layers every 15 minutes when I have chapped lips, and they're gone overnight. Also, apply a layer of honey to your lips, then go to sleep; your chapped lips should be gone by morning.

Your best bet though, I'd say, is drinking lots and lots of water (Buy a huge case of water bottles.) and apply Chapstick (Or Carmex; I find that works better.) constantly.

Drink a lot of water, apply chapstick every few hours, and DO NOT LICK YOUR LIPS! Lip-licking is bad for your lips! Something in saliva dries them up.

effective (usually) fix: overnight take vaseline, a lot of it, and apply it to your lips. try to lay on your back cause you dont want to roll over and get it all over your bed. apply a few layers, and when you wake up, your lips should be soft. apply then burts bees lip balm. drink atleast 4 glasses of water that day, and apply more lip balm every 1-2 hours, depending on the feel of your lips. do this for maybe a week and then you should only need to apply the lip balm once or twice a day. also, exfoliate your lips with a toothbrush before applying lipbalm

drink a lot of water and don't lick your lips a lot. OH, and watch out for some lip glosses they will make your lips peel. The really heavy thick one like loreal color juice. Look great but my lips peel. If you want something other than chapstick try sally hansens diamond lip treatment. Its lip gloss but its got moisturisers for your lips. I love it.

this works for me really really well. great for a quick fix or to start your lips anew so it's easily treated (i find adding balm to dry, cracked lips irritates it even more).

apply a thin layer of vaseline (or chapstick - but vaseline works better) before a shower. Don't wash it off! It should be a really warm shower. Let the warmth and steam moisturize your lips. afterwards, take a wash cloth and gently rub the vaseline off. your lips should be really smooth. while it's still a little moist, apply some balm to it to lock in the moisture. hope that helps.
