I'm going to see this movie. Please watch it if you can, so that Firefly comes back.

I didn't care much for Buffy, but from the one episode of Firefly I got a peek at, Whedon is the man.

I heard it was okay...
I might watch it, I don't know.
I'm not a big fan of sci-fi movies.

It's based on the TV series Firefly. It was a science fiction series that centered around a spaceship called the Serenity and its crew.

Here's how it is...
Earth-that-was got used up.

We moved out -- terraformed and colonized hundreds of new earths; some, rich and flush with the new technologies; some, not so much. The central planets -- them as formed the Alliance -- decided all the planets had to join under their rule.

There was some disagreement on that point.

After the Unification War, many of the Independents who had fought and lost drifted to the edges of civilization, far from Alliance control. Out here, people struggle to get by with the most basic of technologies. A ship will bring you work; a gun will help you keep it.

A captain's goal is simple: find crew, find a job... keep flying.

Ive seen the series multiple times, as well as own it on DVD, and have seen the movie twice.

This series is absolutely amazing. Its no mere sci-fi romp through an unbound galaxy. Each of these characters feel real and personable. As if you could find any one of these guys down the street.

The series chronicles the adventures of the crew of Serenity, a broken up Firefly class ship, who's only destination is forward. Captaining the ship is Mal Reynolds, an old war veteran who wasn't exactly on the winning side. He takes to the sky on the outer rim of the galaxy in order to keep that much further from the hand of the Alliance, the central government agency. Along with him is his 8 other passengers, from a certified "companion", to a gun slinging neanderthal, to a one line spitting ace pilot. The adventures are never too granderous, but always exciting enough to keep you wanting more. Its the adventures that no one really hears about, as if Luke could be taking down the Dark Side right now, and probably is, but youre watching these guys, a group of run down space pirates looking for the next job.

Man i love this show. And to see it made into a movie makes me so happy.

The movie tells the tale of the crew of Serenity, as well as thrusts it into a new plot. It seems that an assasin is after the ships two new crewmates, for information that the little psychic girl may or may not realize she knows. As they find that the Alliance is pushing further into space, and the Reavers, men on the edge of space gone mad, are pushing further in, the skies get kind of crowded, and the Serenity tries to find a place where naughty men like them can walk free.

EDIT: As you can see my My Space and Xanga are both Firefly themed.

As an update, and a bump;

Orson Scott Card, arguably the greatest science fiction writer in the 'verse reviews Serenity.

Lets just say 2 things about this article.

1) He compares Joss Whedon to Shakespeare

2) He calls Serenity the greatest sci movie ever made.

Uncle Orson Reviews Everything

wow, your eager about this movie arent you^ lol.

yeah watch that first 9 minutes, plus i saw it today and it was good, so yeah.

money spent well.

way better than i thought it would be, since it was based on a television series(which i've never seen lol) i thought it would be a rinky dink, cheap, cookie cutter effects sci-fi movie. and it wasnt! _smile.gif and its cool cause its funny too, it doesnt have corny, nerdy humor like star wars (nothing against star wars haha) dont waste your money and see elizibethtown or something. see this.

I watched the series.
Man, Jayne is so funny. I love the Jaynetown episode and the one where he goes to his room after Inara welcomes the senator.

So crappy, I've yet to see Serenity. I've heard nothing but good things of it too...
