header background/no more post calendar, can't figure it out! Options

Hi, I have two questions.

1) How do I get rid of the posting calendar? I want it off my xanga for good!

and

2) How do I put a glittery background like this:  glitter.gif ( 719bytes ) Number of downloads: 15
as my background for my header in my left module? For example, this person, Her webpage, has a red stretched circle type thing above her modules. How can I put the glittery background above in mine?

YAY! The calendar is gone! Thanks so much! I did look in the scripts and I looked at that exact code, but I put it in the header instead of in the website stats. I should have thought of that, sorry! Now all that leaves is number 2.
