Today in the mail, I received an invitation to go to Washington, D.C to participate in Presidential Classroom.
"Presidential Classroom provides the next generation of civic leaders with an extraordinary academic and leadership development experience." You are able to interact with Members of Congress, journalists, and top business and labor leaders. It sounds like it can be a great experience. Anyone else receive a letter? Has anyone participated in the past? I'm hoping to go and it would be nice to know someone else who is attending.

If you would like to know more about the program or apply, you can do so
here.

I think I got something like that in the mail last year, except it was a summer program. It was a lot of money, also. It sounds cool. Even though I've been on a lot of leadership conferences before and stuff and I know it would be a great experience to branch out and meet new people, I probably wouldn't go all the way to Washington D.C. unless I was with or meeting somebody that I knew. It sounds like it would be great, though.

They sent a booklet and it has the prices for all of the different programs. They range from $1,250 to $1,400. A bit expensive but it would look great on a college application.

over 1000 usd to look good on your resume? I don't think it's worth it. Plus, as much as you think you are...you aren't special getting one of those...

My goodness, people. Some of you missed the whole point of the topic. I don't feel special just because I received a letter. I just wanted to know if anyone was attending or has attended.

Yeah I think I got that thing too. I will never do it though...I'd rather be around honest, kind, loving people who actually care about me and my future...

Point of the matter: I'm disgused with the system at the moment, and politicians I can't stand...

LoL oh and, I don't think you're showing off, don't worry. People stretch things like crazy...

i got an application to do an exchange student program this summer. [06'] i'm not going to do it though because i wouldn't want to live with another family since i'd miss my own too much. i also wouldn't be able to stand a family that speaks another language or culture.

i've never done it, but i reccomend you take the opportunity, if you are at all interested in any of the fields mentioned in teh letter, as they are all extremely competitive, meaning that any experience you can get is a must

I don't think anyone here even implied that you thought you were special for getting the letter. I just think that a lot of those are gimmicks, and really really good ways for those companies to make money.

I think you implied exactly that. Maybe I'm wrong but that was my impression.
